Role Overview

The Software and Applications Manager is responsible for overseeing the acquisition, development, implementation and modernization of enterprise software and application systems across the organization and its overseas operations.

The role provides technical and project leadership in coordinating business requirements, system development, system implementation, system integration, vendors and technology stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of enterprise technology solutions.

The position also supports technology transformation, IT strategy, program and PMO management, IT and cybersecurity due diligence, M&A IT advisory and post-merger integration, applying technical and project management expertise across multiple industries and business environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the acquisition, development and implementation of software and enterprise application systems, including technology procurement, requirements coordination, implementation planning and vendor management.
  • Oversee system development activities and solutions, coordinating business requirements, system requirements, development activities, implementation requirements and deliverables among business stakeholders, technology teams and system vendors.
  • Monitor the results, quality and implementation progress of software solutions and technology projects, including project deliverables, implementation status, risks, issues and stakeholder requirements.
  • Review and coordinate business and system requirements to ensure that software and enterprise system solutions are aligned with business objectives and technology requirements.
  • Provide technical and solution coordination for software and platform implementation initiatives, working with technology teams and vendors on system design, development, integration and implementation matters.
  • Oversee Proof-of-Concept (PoC) and technology solution initiatives where applicable, coordinating requirements, solution assessment, implementation considerations and stakeholder feedback.
  • Ensure that appropriate technology security, risk and implementation considerations are addressed in software and enterprise system initiatives.
  • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders, technology teams, system vendors and regional/overseas stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and successful technology delivery.
  • Lead PMO activities for technology and system implementation programs, including project planning, schedule management, risk and issue management, stakeholder communication, governance and delivery monitoring.
  • Coordinate system integration and deployment activities, including implementation readiness, installation management, system integration requirements and coordination with relevant vendors and stakeholders.
  • Support system modernization and technology transformation initiatives, assessing business and technology requirements and coordinating implementation activities across multiple workstreams.
  • Manage vendor and stakeholder relationships relating to technology procurement, software development, system implementation, integration, installation and project delivery.
  • Lead and support IT and cybersecurity due diligence engagements for M&A transactions, including assessment of IT environments, technology systems, system dependencies and technology-related risks.
  • Support post-merger integration (PMI) by assessing target IT environments, identifying system dependencies and coordinating technology integration requirements among business, IT and other stakeholders.
  • Support technology projects across financial services/securities, telecom, public-sector and other enterprise technology environments.
  • Provide project governance, management reporting, stakeholder communication and coordination across multiple technology workstreams.
  • Provide technical and project guidance to junior team members and support the delivery of technology consulting and implementation engagements.
Job Requirements
  • 15+ years of experience in IT transformation, enterprise system implementation, technology program management, system integration, or related technology consulting.
  • Experience in IT or management consulting, with experience managing complex technology projects and multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in enterprise system implementation, system development coordination, requirements management, and technology modernization.
  • Strong experience coordinating business, IT, vendor, and project stakeholders throughout technology implementation and transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated PMO and project management experience, including project schedules, risks, issues, vendors, stakeholders, and delivery status.
  • Experience in IT and cybersecurity due diligence, M&A IT advisory, and post-merger integration is highly preferred.
  • Experience with system integration, implementation, deployment, and technology procurement is preferred.
  • Experience in one or more of the following industries is preferred: financial services/securities, telecom, public sector, or other enterprise technology environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple technology workstreams independently in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Good communication skills in both English and Japanese to effectively communicate and collaborate with Japanese-speaking stakeholders and clients
Certifications or Equivalent Knowledge
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent project management knowledge preferred.
  • Knowledge of IT and cybersecurity due diligence, technology risk assessment, and M&A IT advisory.
  • Understanding of enterprise system lifecycle, system development coordination, system integration, and implementation methodologies.
  • Understanding of IT governance, project management, vendor management, and technology transformation.
  • IT service management knowledge such as ITIL is preferred.
  • Fundamental IT knowledge or equivalent professional experience in enterprise technology environments.
