Job summary

IMDA in Singapore is seeking a Senior Manager to lead our Research, Innovation and Enterprise efforts in Future Communications & Frontier Technologies. You will work with internal stakeholders to shape research-to-business strategies and orchestrate international partnerships.

The role requires a strategic mindset, strong stakeholder management, and excellent communication skills to translate cutting-edge research into viable commercial opportunities while supporting leadership in monitoring

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in relevant fields.
• Familiarity with RIE ecosystem.
• Strategic thinker with collaborative attitude and strong teamwork.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, with strong presentation skills.
• Strong stakeholder management with local and overseas partners.

Responsibilities

• Develop research to business strategies in Future Communications & Frontier Technologies, aligned to national strategic interests.
• Prepare RIE funding initiatives and ensure funded programmes progress well.
• Create impactful collaborations with Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) and Research Institutes (RIs) in Future Communications & Frontier Technologies, and cross-domain research.
• Lead efforts to translate research findings into viable business opportunities.
• Support international collaborations.
• Monitor global shifts in Future Communications & Frontier Technologies to guide policy and capture new value.

We are looking for a Senior Manager who will play a pivotal role as part of a team in leading our Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) efforts in Future Communications & Frontier Technologies, cross-domain research, and research to business development. The successful candidate is a highly motivated and independent team player who has experience in supporting research to business strategies, developing thought leadership activities for Singapore and orchestrating international partnerships through the RIE. He/she will have opportunities to collaborate with local and international research communities and international organisations, to drive technology thought leadership.

What you will be working on

• Work with internal stakeholders to develop research to business strategies in the areas of Future Communications & Frontier Technologies, as well as cross-domain research that is aligned to national strategic interests.
• Prepare RIE funding initiatives. Ensure funded programmes progress well.
• Create impactful collaborations with Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) and Research Institutes (RIs) in Future Communications & Frontier Technologies, as well as cross-domain research.
• Lead efforts to translate research findings into viable business opportunities.
• Support international collaborations.
• Support the senior leadership team in monitoring and contextualising global shifts and technology developments in Future Communications & Frontier Technologies, cross-domain research, to make timely recommendations to drive policy, capture new value and/or pre-empt anticipated risks.

What we are looking for

• Holds at least Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in relevant field(s).
• Familiarity with the RIE ecosystem.
• Strategic thinker with collaborative attitude and a strong team player.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong presentation and engagement skills.
• Strong stakeholder management skills to work with both local and overseas partners and stakeholders.

Position will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
