Job summary

IMDA is seeking a Manager to lead Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) efforts in AI and Trust Technologies, driving cross-domain research and research-to-business development in Singapore.

You will strategize collaborations with IHLs, RIs, and international partners, represent Singapore and IMDA in forums, and translate research outcomes into viable business opportunities while monitoring global technology shifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5-8 years of experience leading technology teams in research or engineering.
• Familiarity with the RIE ecosystem.
• Strategic thinker with collaborative attitude and team player.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Develop research-to-business strategies in AI and Trust Technologies, aligned to national strategic interests.
• Strategize and build collaborations with Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) and Research Institutes (RIs) in AI and cross-domain research.

• Support leadership in monitoring global shifts in AI and Trust Technologies to inform policy and value capture.

IMDA is spearheading Singapore’s drive to be a world leading Digital Economy. IMDA aims to empower our companies and workforce to harness the power of digital technologies to drive innovation and foster trust in an increasingly digital world.
We are looking for a Manager who will play a pivotal role as part of a team in leading our Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) efforts in AI and Trust Technologies, cross-domain research, and research to business development. The successful candidate is a highly motivated and independent team player who has demonstrated experience developing research to business strategies, driving thought leadership activities for Singapore and orchestrating international partnerships through the RIE. He/she will have opportunities to collaborate with local and international research communities and international organisations, such as WEF, GPAI and NIST, to drive technology thought leadership.

[What you will be working on]

• Develop research to business strategies in the areas of AI and Trust Technologies, as well as cross-domain research that is aligned to national strategic interests. Prepare RIE funding initiatives and develop theories of success to drive the research programmes.
• Strategise to create impactful collaborations with Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) and Research Institutes (RIs) in AI and Trust Technologies, as well as cross-domain research. Represent Singapore and/or IMDA in relevant research and technology forums and standards setting committees.
• Lead efforts in translate research findings into viable business opportunities.
• Drive international collaborations.
• Support the senior leadership team in monitoring and contextualising global shifts and technology developments in AI and Trust Technologies, Cross-Domain Research, to make timely recommendations to drive policy, capture new value and/or pre-empt anticipated risks.
• Share our point of view of AI and Trust Technologies, Cross-Domain Research in blogs, social media and papers.

[What we are looking for]

• Holds at least Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field
• At least 5-8 years of experience in managing technology teams in research and/or engineering
• Familiarity with the RIE ecosystem
• Strategic thinker with collaborative attitude and a strong team player.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong presentation and engagement skills
• Strong stakeholder management skills to work with both local and overseas partners and stakeholders.

Position will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
