Job summary

WORKPLUS RECRUITMENT CENTRE PTE LTD is seeking engineers to study and interpret structural, architectural, and M&E drawings, identifying coordination gaps and design clashes before work starts on site. You will develop method statements and short-term construction programmes, coordinating with consultants and the design team on technical queries to drive timely design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Study and interpret structural, architectural, and M&E drawings in detail, identifying coordination gaps and design clashes before work commences on site.
• Develop method statements and work sequences for complex structural and architectural works, ensuring logic is sound, safe, and efficient.
• Prepare and maintain short-term construction programmes tied to the master programme, identifying critical path activities and recovery measures when milestones are at risk.
• Coordinate with consultants and design team on technical queries, managing RFA/RFI to achieve timely, documented design decisions.
• Identify on-site technical challenges (ground conditions, interfaces, sequencing, material constraints) and propose practical engineered solutions.
• Support the Project Manager in preparing and responding to technical submissions, including temporary works designs.
• Participate in value engineering during pre-construction and construction, contributing ideas to reduce cost and improve buildability without compromising safety.
• Contribute to post-project reviews by documenting engineering solutions and lessons learned for future projects.
• Ensure all temporary works (falsework, formwork, shoring, excavation support) are designed, checked, and approved by a competent person.
• Participate in weekly safety inspections and toolbox talks, reinforcing a culture of safety and quality.

- Develop method statements and work sequences for complex structural and architectural works, ensuring construction logic is sound, safe, and efficient

- Prepare and maintain short-term construction programmes tied to the master programme, identifying critical path activities and proposing recovery measures when milestones are at risk

- Coordinate with consultants and the design team on technical queries, managing the RFA/ RFI process to achieve timely and documented design decisions

- Identify technical challenges on site — whether related to ground conditions, structural interfaces, sequencing conflicts, or material constraints — and propose practical, engineered solutions rather than waiting for instructions

- Support the Project Manager in preparing and responding to technical submissions, including temporary works designs

- Actively participate in value engineering exercises during the pre-construction and construction phases, contributing ideas that reduce cost, improve buildability, or shorten the programme without compromising structural integrity, safety, or design intent

- Contribute to post-project reviews by documenting successful engineering solutions and lessons learned for application in future projects

- Ensure all temporary works — including falsework, formwork, shoring, and excavation support — are designed, checked, and approved by a competent person

- Participate actively in weekly safety inspections and toolbox meetings, reinforcing a culture where safety and quality are non-negotiable at every level of the team
