Job summary

HMI Medical is seeking a Server Engineer in Singapore to oversee daily administration, performance, and reliability of enterprise server and hypervisor environments. You will manage Nutanix AHV/Prism clusters and Microsoft Hyper-V, ensuring high availability and robust security.

The role includes AD/DNS/DHCP support, backup/DR, and automation through PowerShell. You will participate in infrastructure projects, migrations between locations, and Windows Server upgrades, reporting to the Head of IT

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
• 3–5 years of hands-on system administration, server hardware, and virtualization experience
• Experience with Nutanix AHV/Prism and Hyper-V/Windows Failover Clustering
• PowerShell scripting for automation of system tasks
• Solid TCP/IP, VLAN, and infrastructure networking knowledge
• Experience in infrastructure projects: server migrations and Windows Server upgrades

Responsibilities

• Nutanix management: administer clusters, configure and manage VMs on AHV
• Hyper-V administration: configure hosts, switches, and VMs
• Maintenance & lifecycle: upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management for Nutanix and Hyper-V nodes
• Monitoring & optimization: track system health, performance, and storage utilization
• Windows Server support: patch, troubleshoot Windows Server 2019/2022
• Active Directory & network services: manage AD, GPOs, DNS, DHCP
• Backup & DR: monitor/execute backups and disaster recovery (Veeam, Nutanix)
• Automation: write/maintain PowerShell scripts for task automation
• Incident management: support level-2 incidents and participate in on-call rotation
• Capacity management: set up monitoring alerts and SLA-based escalation

Job description

The Server Engineer will be responsible for the daily administration, performance, and reliability of our enterprise server and hypervisor environments.

The Server Engineer will actively manage our dual-stack infrastructure powered by Nutanix HCI (AHV) and Microsoft Hyper-V, ensuring high availability and robust system security.

The Server Engineer will also need to participate in the infrastructure projects as directed by Head of IT Singapore.

Job Responsibilities: -

• Nutanix Management: Administer and monitor Nutanix HCI clusters using Prism Element and Prism Central; deploy, configure, and manage VMs running on Nutanix AHV.
• Hyper-V Administration: Configure and maintain Microsoft Hyper-V host environments, virtual switches, and virtual machines.
• Maintenance & Lifecycle: Execute routine upgrades, patching, and Lifecycle Management (LCM) for Nutanix and Hyper-V nodes to keep systems secure and compliant.
• Monitoring & Optimization: Track system health, performance metrics, and storage capacities, proactively addressing resource bottlenecks.

Systems Infrastructure & Operations

• Windows Server Support: Maintain, patch, and troubleshoot Windows Server (2019/2022) operating systems.
• Active Directory & Network Services: Assist in the daily management of Active Directory (AD), Group Policy Objects (GPOs), DNS, and DHCP.
• Backup & DR: Monitor and execute enterprise backup and disaster recovery processes (e.g., Veeam, Nutanix Protection Domains).
• Automation: Write and maintain basic PowerShell scripts to automate repetitive system tasks.
• Incident Management: Support level-2 incident handling, hardware troubleshooting, and partake in the team’s on-call rotation schedule

Capacity Management , Tracking, and Reviewing System Health

• Develop and maintain IT infrastructure and network monitoring tool
• Setting up relevant alerts, escalation models and resolution SLA
• Setting up correct matrixes to be monitored

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: 3 to 5 years of hands‑on experience in system administration, server hardware, and virtualization engineering.
• Technical Skills: Sound, practical experience managing Nutanix (AHV/Prism) and Microsoft Hyper‑V / Windows Failover Clustering.
• Automation: Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for system task automation.
• Core Networking: Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, and corporate infrastructure layouts.
• Experience in specific infrastructure projects is highly desired:
• Migration of servers from one location to another
• Upgrade of Microsoft Windows Server
• Setting‑up and managing new domains outside of the existing AD

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications such as NCP‑MCI (Nutanix Certified Professional) or Microsoft Hybrid Administrator Associate is an advantage.
