Job description

Citi is looking for a seasoned senior leader to head the FX and Commodities Middle Office across APAC and Japan, overseeing a team of 19 professionals across Singapore, India, Korea, and Japan. In this role, you will partner with regional leads and global product heads to drive operational excellence, support business growth, and strengthen the risk and control environment across the trade life cycle. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity at the centre of Citi's APAC FX and Commodities business, where your decisions directly shape service delivery, team performance, and strategic alignment with the firm's global operating model.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Middle Office teams across Singapore, India, Korea, and Japan, ensuring consistent standards of delivery and alignment with global operating model objectives.
  • Manage a large, complex functional area within FX and Commodities, with direct accountability for resource planning, budget oversight, and policy development.
  • Responsible for the end-to-end trade life cycle from front-to-back, serving as a subject matter expert for both internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Resolve complex and time-sensitive trade-related issues by coordinating across multiple teams, identifying root causes, and implementing durable process improvements.
  • Increase productivity, scalability and efficiencies by reducing manual processes and seeking strategic and sustainable solutions via automations/AI tools.
  • Monitor industry developments and translate emerging trends into cost‑saving opportunities and operational enhancements that benefit clients and the business.
  • Oversee the risk and control environment, ensuring teams operate within regulatory requirements and Citi’s internal policies, and escalating control issues with full transparency.
  • Coach and develop line managers and team members across four locations, building capability and maintaining high standards of operational practice.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience in financial services operations, with a focus on FX, Commodities, or related capital markets functions in APAC and Japan markets
  • Demonstrated people management experience, with the ability to lead geographically distributed teams and hold direct reports accountable for outcomes.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities in a high-pressure, risk-sensitive environment without loss of quality or control.
  • Clear and confident communicator in English, with the ability to engage senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and external clients with equal effectiveness.
  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering operational change and process improvement initiatives.
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Japanese, enabling effective day-to-day management of local teams and business operations in Japan.
  • Prior experience in a senior leadership role within Banking or Financial Institutions, particularly in a Corporate Banking or Markets context.
