Job summary

Public Service Division invites applications for a role within URA’s Architecture & Urban Design Group to shape a distinctive, liveable Singapore through urban planning and design leadership.

You will drive strategic local and international programmes, develop platforms for knowledge exchange among city leaders and stakeholders, and contribute to public space initiatives with multidisciplinary teams and government partners.

Qualifications

• Degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, Urban Design, Geography or a related discipline.
• Strong interest in the physical development of Singapore and contemporary urban planning and design issues.
• Good planning and design sensibilities, with the ability to analyse urban contexts and develop well-considered planning and design responses.
• Strong analytical and conceptual abilities, with the ability to translate broad objectives into clear proposals, programmes and deliverables.
• Good project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines.
• Good written, verbal and visual communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear briefs, presentations and reports.
• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills, with confidence engaging people across different organisations and levels of seniority.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and remain effective in complex or fast-moving situations.
• Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and with local and international partners.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to planning and urban design of strategic areas and projects in Singapore, considering wider planning context and place character.
• Develop and evaluate urban design concepts, strategies, guidelines and proposals for high-quality outcomes.
• Undertake urban analysis, site studies and research to translate opportunities and constraints into recommendations.
• Review development and design proposals with stakeholders to achieve good urban design outcomes.
• Support initiatives to improve public spaces through policy and programme development, research, and pilot projects.
• Work with public agencies, private-sector partners, communities and others to explore better-designed, inclusive public spaces.
• Contribute to studies that advance urban design quality, liveability and placemaking in Singapore.
• Collaborate across disciplines and with local and international partners on planning and urban design matters.
