Job summary

CANOPIUS ASIA PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced underwriter to execute new and renewal underwriting aligned with Canopius’ strategy and guidelines. The role requires operating within authority and documentation standards while maintaining strong relationships with intermediary partners.

The ideal candidate will apply pricing strategies, assess risk, and monitor market conditions to identify opportunities, while ensuring regulatory compliance and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Apply underwriting strategy to select and price risks within authority
• Use insurance knowledge to assess risk and support underwriting decisions
• Conduct pricing and risk selection to align with business objectives
• Negotiate with stakeholders to secure favorable terms and maintain partnerships
• Engage stakeholders to foster collaboration and trust
• Analyze and review data to guide underwriting strategy and identify opportunities
• Ensure regulatory compliance by monitoring legal and market changes
• Manage underwriting portfolio to balance risk and return
• Develop and implement product distribution strategies to optimize market reach

Responsibilities

• Contributes to plans for the book of business, tracks and reports performance to plan, and develops a clear view of market conditions and competitive landscape
• Maintain trusted relationships with intermediary partners
• Evaluates the performance of intermediary partners in production of business
• Monitors and communicates production, hit ratios, renewal retention ratios, spread of risk and other production and quality measures
• Prices business in accordance with pricing and underwriting strategy
• Reviews data proactively as a method to identify new opportunities within the underwriting function
• Monitors resources regularly for changes in laws and market conditions that will impact the underwriting department and procedures
