Job summary

Direct Search Global in Singapore seeks an experienced Commercial Trading Compliance professional to support physical and financial commodity trading across crude oil, refined products and renewable fuels. You will provide practical regulatory guidance to commercial teams, monitor trading activity and ensure adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Economics, Business, Accountancy or related field.
• At least 5 years in commodity-trading compliance or regulatory advisory.
• Experience supporting commercial trading teams, with front- and middle-office exposure.
• Knowledge of crude oil, refined products, renewables and related markets.
• Understanding of exchange-traded and OTC commodity transactions.
• Familiarity with UK FCA and US CFTC regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to translate complex regulations into practical guidance for traders.
• Strong analytical, judgement and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communicator with traders, management and stakeholders.
• Independent, self-motivated in an international team.
• High integrity, discretion and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide compliance and regulatory support for physical and derivatives trading across crude oil, refined products and renewable fuels.
• Advise traders on market rules, regulatory requirements and internal obligations.
• Support regulatory reviews when entering new markets, exchanges or trading activities.
• Monitor changes to commodity-derivatives regulations and exchange rules across relevant jurisdictions.
• Assess impact of regulatory developments and communicate requirements to traders and management.
• Maintain understanding of trading strategies to provide timely compliance advice.
• Build relationships with Trading, Legal, Risk, Finance and Internal Audit teams.
• Conduct trade surveillance and monitor for regulatory or internal-policy concerns.
• Review compliance with authority limits, trade-booking timelines, and transaction controls.
• Maintain and improve internal monitoring reports and escalation processes.
• Investigate potential policy breaches or unusual trading behaviour and escalate findings to management.
• Develop and deliver engaging compliance training for traders and other employees.
• Liaise with exchanges, clearing brokers and regulators as required.
