Job summary

NCS in Singapore is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with deep RHEL expertise to design, deploy, and maintain robust Linux infrastructure for enterprise operations. You will mentor junior engineers and drive automation, security hardening, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include scripting in Bash/Python, managing Docker/Kubernetes environments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability, performance, and seamless integration with applications and databases.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration in production.
• Strong Linux administrative skills including kernel tuning, package management, and optimization.
• Scripting in Bash, Python, or Perl for automation and system management.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or OpenStack.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as KVM or VMware.
• Experience with monitoring/logging solutions such as Prometheus, ELK Stack, or Splunk.
• Background in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
• Knowledge of enterprise security practices including firewall management and SELinux.

• Implement and maintain configuration management across environments.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and support staff.
• Document architectures, configurations, procedures, and runbooks.
• Stay current with RHEL updates and emerging technologies.

Job Description

We're looking for a detail-oriented and analytically-minded Senior Systems Engineer with deep expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) to join our organization in Singapore. In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain robust Linux-based infrastructure that supports our enterprise operations. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability, security, and optimal performance while mentoring junior engineering staff and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

What will you do?

• Design, deploy, and manage RHEL-based infrastructure solutions that meet organizational requirements and industry best practices
• Perform system administration tasks including user management, access control, patch management, and security hardening
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues efficiently and systematically, documenting root causes and implementing preventative solutions
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools using Bash, Python, or similar languages to improve operational efficiency
• Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability; analyze metrics and implement optimization strategies
• Collaborate with application teams, database administrators, and network engineers to ensure seamless system integration
• Implement and maintain configuration management solutions to ensure consistency across infrastructure environments
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior systems engineers and support staff
• Document system architectures, configurations, procedures, and runbooks for organizational knowledge management
• Stay current with RHEL updates, security patches, and emerging technologies relevant to enterprise Linux systems

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess:

• Due to government project sensitivity, we will only consider Singapore Citizen
• 7+ years of hands-on experience administering and supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems in production environments
• Strong expertise in Linux system administration, including kernel tuning, package management, and system optimization
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl for automation and system management
• Demonstrated experience with infrastructure architecture and design principles
• Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities with strong analytical skills
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
• Knowledge of enterprise security practices, including firewall management, SELinux, and access controls
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail

**Preferred Skills & Experience:**

• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification
• Experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or OpenStack
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as KVM or VMware
• Experience with monitoring and logging solutions such as Prometheus, ELK Stack, or Splunk
