Job summary

abb pte. ltd. in Singapore is seeking an Electrical/Substation Automation Engineer to design, configure and commission SAS projects.

You will work under the lead engineer to integrate IEC 61850 with IEDs, create SCL files, perform MMS/GOOSE reporting and validate communications with switchgear and PMS interfaces. The role requires hands-on testing, FAT/SAT procedures, and pre-commissioning across onshore and offshore sites, with strong English communication and multi-cultural collaboration

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology with a major in Electrical or Electronics.
Hands-on experience in automation or substation projects across Oil & Gas or power industries, including testing and commissioning.
Working knowledge of IEC 61850 (MMS, GOOSE, SCL) and IED configuration tools such as ABB PCM600 and IET600.
Experience with ABB System 800xA networks or comparable DCS platforms (Honeywell, Emerson, Yokogawa) is an advantage.
Experience with ABB 800xA with controlbuilder, networking and cyber security principles and third-party communication using industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC UA, Profinet and IEC 61850) will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

Engineering and configuring IEC61850-based SAS under guidance of lead engineer, including IED configuration, SCL files, MMS reporting and GOOSE messaging.
Interpreting single-line diagrams and IED documentation to prepare signal lists, IP addresses and interface details with switchgear, protection relay, ICSS and PMS suppliers.
Integrating LV/MV switchgear equipment and IEDs using IEC 61850, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, and other protocols.
Preparing engineering and test documentation, including SCD files, FAT/SAT procedures, test reports, punch lists and as-built docs.
Performing internal testing and factory acceptance tests at different factories, including signal verification, interlocking and comms tests.
Carrying out pre-commissioning, commissioning and SAT at yards and offshore sites, including end-to-end checks with switchgear, ICSS and PMS.
Troubleshooting comms networks and integration issues using tools like Wireshark, IED Scout, ITT600
