Job summary

The Business Times, Singapore's premier business daily, is seeking meticulous Executive Sub-Editors to publish content in a fast-paced, real-time environment. You will be the first and last line of defence, ensuring stories are well-angled, accurate and aligned with BT's house style.

We value editors with a passion for news, strong English, and the ability to meet tight deadlines, while being adaptable to shift work including PMs, weekends or public holidays.

Qualifications

• Strong command of English with meticulous attention to accuracy and detail.
• A passion for news and current affairs with a sharp sense of judgement.
• Familiarity with SEO, internet-friendly headlines and social media.
• Excellent editing and fact-checking skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently while being a good team player.
• Experience with other news publications and media platforms is valuable.
• Willingness to be rostered for PM shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Willingness to learn layout and page design; print story curation a plus.

Responsibilities

• Edit copy to ensure language, grammar, syntax and BT house style.
• Fine-tune story structure for clear, coherent, logical flow.
• Spot information gaps and pitfalls before publication.
• Publish content as the first and last line of defence in BT production.
• Stay updated with news developments and current affairs.
