Job description

Summary of Role

Senior Staff Nurse will support Nurse Manager and deputize in the absence of Nurse Manager at the clinic to lead and manage the Dialysis Clinic; to deliver holistic care by assisting in all aspects of the management to achieve maximum efficiency and cost effectiveness in the facility while maintaining a safe environment that is supportive of optimal patient care. Senior Staff Nurse will second Nurse Manager and deputize in the absence of Nurse Manager at the clinic to collaborate with all healthcare and allied professionals to achieve quality outcome in the day-to-day management of the dialysis patients. Senior Staff Nurse will assist Nurse Manager for the professional development of staff in the clinic to ensure continuing education for the benefits of the staff and patients. You could also be tasked to work on special/ad hoc projects assigned by Head Office.

Key Accountabilities

Patient Care

• Participates in the planning, delivery and evaluation of patient care within the haemodialysis clinical setting:
• Undertakes clinical/patient assessments pre, during and post dialysis treatment to evaluate effectiveness of care
• Adheres to all FMC Policies and Work Instructions related to clinical and operation management
• Reviews blood test results and reports to Medical Director of any abnormalities
• Educates patients on their diet, fluid, medications and blood pressure management to optimise their clinical outcomes
• Motivates and encourages patient’s adjustment to CHD
• Monitors the water treatment system and fluid for dialysis to ensure provision of safe, quality dialysis therapies
• Establish an effective relationship with patients and maintain good communication with patients and relatives; gives adequate support.
• Ensures/promotes a safe, secure and healthy working environment to staff and a comfortable, safe environment for visitors and patients as detailed in the IPC and environment policies
• Ensures all equipment is clean, safe and in good working condition; reports defects through appropriate channels.
• Maintains accurate patient information in medical records, including Therapy Data Management System (TDMS)/Euclid Clinical Information system and abides by confidentiality and Privacy Policy.
