Job summary

Kulicke & Soffa Pte Ltd in Singapore seeks a Staff Engineer, Product Design to lead mechanical subsystem design for a high-performance semiconductor assembly machine. You will supervise development, documentation, testing and integration with partners.

The role demands hands-on CAD/FEA expertise, cross-functional coordination, and the ability to guide prototypes from concept to production while meeting performance and cost targets.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of precision mechanical engineering design experience.
• Senior position within a design team with leadership history.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (NX or Pro/Engineer) and FEA (Nastran or equivalent).
• Ability to analyze thermal, fluid, motion, vibration, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience documenting designs from concept through production.
• Knowledge of GD&T and mechanical engineering standards.
• Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage a design team to perform root cause analysis on escalation related to process/machine problem affecting application by providing and recommending solutions.
• Serve as technical expert in multiple subsystem or aspect of machine performance.
• Coordinate the completion of designs and documentation from concept to production stage.
• May plan budgets in relation to projects.
• Analyze, design, and test electro-mechanical systems for high-performance multi-axis robotic semiconductor manufacturing equipment and process equipment.
• Perform analysis and calculations necessary to ensure designs meet requirements including performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost targets.
• Create product validation and evaluate prototype designs against requirements, perform testing, document and analyses data and write reports.
• Lead fabrication/build of prototype and production systems.
• Lead or coordinate cross functional business groups to achieve module performance.
• Manage overall Bill of Materials for the machine, as well as related accessories and kits.
• Manage and coordinate integration of multiple subsystems and modules into the overall CAD model of a large machine with >2,000 unique components.
• Leverage various software tools and lab equipment to collect data.
• Provide customer facing troubleshooting and support.
• Performs risk assessments and analysis.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
