Job summary

MaxLinear is seeking a Senior Staff Emulation Development Engineer to join our global engineering team in Singapore. You will drive emulation/FPGA modeling from RTL designs and collaborate with RTL designers, verification teams and software to accelerate pre- and post-silicon validation.

You will map complex SoC designs to multi-FPGA platforms (HAPS-80/Palladium or equivalents), develop hardware/software collaterals, and build automation to increase emulation usability and efficiency for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical & Electronics/Computer Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in digital design/verification, emulation/FPGA prototyping and system validation.
• Knowledge of RTL languages (VHDL, Verilog), in-circuit emulation, simulation acceleration and FPGA prototyping.
• Familiar with verification/emulation/prototyping tools and methodologies; hands-on with multi-FPGA SOC platforms (HAPS-80, Palladium).
• Experience in silicon verification and test plan development.
• Experience in system board design/debugging and lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
• Understanding of interfaces and bus protocols: PCI/USB/ETH/SPI/I2C/PCIe/AXI/AMBA.
• Team player, proactive and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Create emulation/FPGA models from RTL design using emulation/FPGA synthesis, partitioning and routing tools.
• Define and document RTL changes required for emulation/FPGA; develops hardware and software collaterals and integrates it with the model.
• Test and debug the emulation/FPGA model and collaterals; develop new capabilities and HW/SW tools to accelerate RTL validation and SW development/validation.
• Develop improvements to usability by RTL validation and debugging of failing RTL tests on the emulation platform; guide preSilicon Validation teams.
• Develop and apply automation aids, flows and scripts to improve emulation usability and equipment utilization.

Responsibilities

MaxLinear is looking for a highly motivated Senior Staff Emulation Development Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be at the center of the product development lifecycle, enabling breakthrough SoC designs through cutting-edge emulation and FPGA technologies. You will work closely with architects, RTL designers, verification engineers, software developers, and validation teams across the globe to solve challenging technical problems that directly influence product success. You will focus on:-

• Create emulation/FPGA models from a Register Transfer Level RTL design using emulation/FPGA synthesis, partitioning and routing tools


• Define and document RTL changes required for emulation/FPGA. Develops hardware and software collaterals and integrates it with the emulation/FPGA model


• Test and debug the emulation/FPGA model and collaterals. Defines and develops new capabilities & HW/SW tools to enable acceleration of RTL and improve emulation/FPGA model usability for preSilicon and postSilicon functional validation as well as SW development/validation


• Develop improvements to usability by RTL validation and debugging of failing RTL tests on the emulation platform. Interfaces with and provides guidance to preSilicon Validation teams for optimizing preSilicon validation environments, test suites and methodologies for emulation efficiency


• Develop and apply automation aids, flows and scripts in support of emulation ease of use and improvement of equipment utilization

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master's Degree in Electrical & Electronics/Computer Engineering


• At least 8 years and above of related working experience in digital design/verification, emulation/FPGA prototyping and system validation


• Knowledge of RTL language (e.g. VHDL, Verilog), in-circuit emulation, simulation acceleration and FPGA prototyping


• Familiar with verification/emulation/prototyping tools and methodologies. Real experience of mapping complex SOC design into multi-FPGA platforms/emulators and hands on experience with such systems, e.g. HAPS-80, Palladium or equivalent


• Experience in silicon verification, test plan development and execution


• Experience in system board design/debugging and usage of lab equipment, e.g. oscilloscopes and logic analyzers is an advantage


• Understanding of standard interfaces and bus protocols: PCI/USB/ETH/SPI/I2C/PCIe//SPI/I2C/AXI/AMBA
