Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer to build secure, high-performance software close to the network stack. You will design, implement, test, and harden core components with an emphasis on correctness, performance, and production readiness.

You'll collaborate with security, platform, and infra engineers to translate requirements into robust code, ensuring reliability, observability, and maintainability across services and libraries.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in Go/NodeJS/Python/Rust (production systems)
• Solid fundamentals in network programming (socket I/O, connections, timeouts)
• Practical understanding of applied security (secure coding, key material handling, auth concepts)
• Comfortable with Linux environments and performance tooling

Responsibilities

• Build production-grade services/libraries for security-sensitive contexts
• Implement cryptographic mechanisms using established libraries
• Develop components interacting with transport/security protocols and networking primitives
• Optimize performance for throughput and latency; profile memory and concurrency
• Design for operability with metrics, logging, tracing, and safe failure modes
• Write unit/integration/fuzz/negative security tests
• Contribute to secure SDLC through threat modelling, reviews, and vulnerability remediation
• Interface with languages like Go, C++, or Python as needed
