Job summary

Standard Chartered Singapore is seeking a Software Engineer - Distributed Systems to design, build, and support highly scalable, resilient services for critical transaction processing. The role may be based in Singapore or China, with country selection during application.

You will tackle service orchestration, data consistency, failure recovery, observability, and performance at scale, delivering robust, low-latency banking systems.

Qualifications

• 6+ years’ experience in software engineering with hands-on Go or Java.
• Experience designing distributed systems or high-availability backends.
• Strong software architecture for scalable, resilient systems.
• Knowledge of concurrency and service-to-service communication.

Responsibilities

• Design distributed backend services for high-volume transaction processing.
• Develop scalable, fault-tolerant solutions for transaction-heavy systems.
• Implement resilient integration across APIs, queues, and streaming platforms.
• Ensure data integrity, idempotency, and recovery mechanisms.
