Job summary

Coinbase seeks a Senior Software Engineer for the Onboarding team to build backend services powering user onboarding and KYC across products and markets. You will own services, scale, and shape architecture to support rapid global expansion while meeting regulatory requirements.

You will design and implement in Golang, using Docker/Kubernetes on AWS/GCP, driving improvements in onboarding funnels and collaborating with product, design, and leadership to deliver quarterly roadmaps.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building, scaling, and maintaining production backend services in a service-oriented architecture.
• Experience with cloud-native tooling including Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP.
• Proficiency in Golang or a similar statically-typed language with production-grade code.
• Experience owning end-to-end delivery of platform capabilities from design through deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Onboarding team, you'll build the systems that power user onboarding and KYC across every Coinbase product and market. This team enables Coinbase to launch in new countries and ship new products quickly while meeting compliance and regulatory requirements. You'll own backend services that drive onboarding conversion at global scale and shape the architecture that makes rapid expansion possible.

What you'll do:

• Own the design, development, and scaling of backend services in Golang that power onboarding and KYC workflows across multiple products and geographies.
• Build scalable, service-oriented systems using modern cloud infrastructure and industry best practices to solve novel platform challenges.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building, scaling, and maintaining production backend services in a service-oriented architecture.
• Proven track record designing distributed systems that operate reliably at scale, including experience with cloud-native tooling (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP).
• Proficiency in Golang or a similar statically-typed language, with demonstrated ability to write well-tested, production-grade code.
• Experience owning end-to-end delivery of platform capabilities, from technical design through deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
