Role Overview

Our client is seeking a versatile and resourceful Software Engineer to join their R&D engineering team in Singapore.

In this role, you will work across diverse technical challenges—often building tools, integrating backend systems, and prototyping solutions in undefined problem spaces where established roadmaps may not yet exist. You will spend your days exploring high-level script automation, system integrations, security concepts, and fast-paced R&D iterations.

Key Responsibilities

• Rapid Prototyping & Development: Build, test, and deploy software quickly in a fast-changing R&D environment.

• Cross-Functional R&D: Work across varied technical challenges, touching different projects, scripts, or systems on a regular basis.

• Core Coding: Main development in JavaScript and Python, tackling complex technical logic independently.

• Full Delivery Lifecycle: Take ownership of solutions from initial concept through to validation, including writing unit/integration tests and verifying build stability.

• Team Collaboration: Help shape culture, technical workflows, and best practices within a newly formed engineering unit.

Job Requirements

Must-Have Requirements (Hard & Soft Skills)

• Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant software development experience, ideally in fast-paced product, startup, or security-focused environments.

• Technical Core: Strong, hands-on development proficiency in JavaScript and Python (spanning backend integration, scripting, and system-level interactions).

• "Hacker/Builder" Mindset: Resourceful, curious, and passionate about solving open-ended problems; comfortable dissecting code or exploring unfamiliar technology independently.

• Adaptability & Speed: Ability to learn fast, switch contexts between project phases, and navigate undefined problem spaces without needing rigid instructions.

• Workplace Presence: Based in Singapore and comfortable working on-site in an office-based R&D setup.

Good-to-Have Requirements (Bonus Skills)

• Experience with cybersecurity concepts, agent-based software, threat modeling, or system integrations.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructures (AWS/GCP).
• Familiarity with database management (SQL & NoSQL platforms like PostgreSQL or MongoDB).
• Active participation in CTF (Capture The Flag) competitions, open-source projects, or security research.
