Job summary

Singtel is hiring a software engineer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade software solutions. You will build microservices and APIs using Java/Python, develop automated tests, and collaborate with QA and operations teams to resolve issues.

The role emphasizes CI/CD, code reviews, and adopting modern technologies. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in software development with agile/DevOps, 2+ years in Docker/Kubernetes, and strong database and open-source experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in IT/Computer Science/Computer Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• 3–5 years of software development experience using agile or DevOps.
• 3+ years of microservices development with Java, Python, Apache Camel, Spring Boot.
• 2+ years with Docker and Kubernetes.
• 2+ years Linux and open-source development.
• 2+ projects with DevOps and automated testing.
• Experience with MariaDB or PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Experience in EFK stack, Prometheus/Grafana and RESTful APIs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise-grade, scalable software solutions.
• Design and develop microservices and APIs using various technologies (e.g. Java).
• Develop and automate testing for the software, including unit and integration tests.
• Collaborate with QA and internal teams to validate and resolve defects or enhancements.
• Work with operations to conduct root cause analysis of issues.
• Adopt best practices for coding, testing, version control, CI/CD and documentation.
• Gather functional requirements and prepare technical specs, project plans, and tests.
• Review designs and code outputs from developers and QA teams.
• Continuously evaluate industry trends and adopt new technologies where relevant.

Make an Impact

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise grade, highly scalable and high performing software solutions that meet both functional and technical requirements including security requirements.
• Design and develop microservices and APIs using various technologies (e.g. Java).
• Develop and automate the testing for the software solution including the unit testing, backend integration testing, frontend user interface testing and end-to-end testing.
• Work with the Quality Assurance (QA) teams and other internal teams to ensure assigned defects/enhancements are validated, documented and resolved appropriately.
• Work with the operation teams and other internal teams to facilitate root cause analysis of application issues.
• Familiar with best practices on coding, testing, code reviews, version control, continuous integration, continuous deployment and documentation.
• Gather functional requirements and develop technical specifications, project and test planning, and participate in project meetings and discussions.
• Review designs and code output from the development team and results produced by QA teams.
• Continuously evaluate industry trends for opportunities to utilize new technologies and methodologies, and implement these into the solution stack as appropriate.

Skills for Success

• Degree in IT/Computer Science/Computer Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in software development using agile or DevOps methodology.
• At least 3 years of microservices development experience with technologies such as Java, Python, Apache Camel, Spring Boot, etc.
• At least 2 years of experience with container technology such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in Linux and open-source based development.
• At least 2 projects utilizing DevOps and software automation with unit testing and functional testing.
• Experience with at least 2 databases such as MariaDB/PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Experience in EFK stack, Prometheus/Grafana and RESTful APIs.
