PENROSE TECH (SINGAPORE) PTE. LTD. is seeking a seasoned backend engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable services powering core products.

You will own features end-to-end, drive architecture decisions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable systems. The role requires 5+ years of experience, proficiency in Go/Python/Java/Rust, and strong database and cloud/containerization skills, with a focus on API design and scalable architectures.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Go, Python, Java, or Rust.
• Relational and NoSQL databases: PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB.
• Cloud platforms, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD.
• System design, distributed systems and API design knowledge.
• Good communication and cross-border collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsabilités

What You'll Do

• Design, build and maintain scalable, secure backend services and APIs that power our core products
• Own features end to end, from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment and monitoring
• Make architecture decisions with a focus on performance, reliability and security
• Review code and mentor junior and mid-level engineers to raise the team's engineering standards
• Work closely with product, design and business stakeholders to turn requirements into practical technical solutions
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, observability and development workflows
• Troubleshoot production issues and drive root-cause fixes

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong track record of shipping production systems
• Proficiency in at least one backend language such as [Go / Python / Java / Rust]
• Solid experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB)
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD
• Strong understanding of system design, distributed systems and API design
• Good communication skills and comfort working with cross-border teams
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Nice to Have

• Experience with smart contracts (Solidity)
• Familiarity with security best practices and handling sensitive financial data
• Experience in a startup or fast-growing environment
