Job summary

Lonza in Singapore is seeking a Section Lead to oversee daily operations of a cGMP cell therapy manufacturing team. You will coordinate with QA, Engineering and MSAT to ensure compliant and efficient production, while coaching staff and driving continuous improvement.

The role requires a Life Sciences degree or equivalent and hands-on experience in aseptic processing, cleanroom practices, and proper documentation within a classified manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in cGMP manufacturing with supervisory or team leadership exposure.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing manufacturing team through coaching and performance reviews.
• Plan daily priorities and allocate resources to meet production schedules.
• Oversee production from suite preparation through batch record sign-off with cGMP compliance.
• Ensure timely logbook and first-level batch record reviews; address deviations promptly.
• Guide troubleshooting and issue resolution with QA, Engineering and MSAT involvement.
• Uphold EHS requirements and represent Manufacturing during audits and inspections.
• Drive Operational Excellence and continuous improvement to strengthen cross-team performance.

As Section Lead, you will lead the daily operational and administrative activities of a cGMP Cell Therapy manufacturing team, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient production. You will partner with Quality Assurance, Engineering and Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) to resolve issues, strengthen consistency across teams and deliver production objectives.

What you will do

• Lead and develop a high-performing manufacturing team through coaching, on-the-job training, performance reviews and development planning.
• Plan daily priorities and allocate resources to meet production schedules, ensuring manufacturing suites, equipment, materials and documentation are ready for each shift.
• Oversee production from suite preparation through batch record sign-off, maintaining consistent aseptic practices, cleanroom behaviour, cGMP compliance and data integrity.
• Ensure timely logbook and first-level batch record reviews, address review comments and initiate deviations promptly when required.
• Guide troubleshooting and issue resolution, escalating risks appropriately and coordinating with QA, Engineering and MSAT to support smooth operations.
• Uphold site Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements and represent Manufacturing as a subject matter expert during customer audits and regulatory inspections.
• Drive Operational Excellence and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen cross-team consistency, process efficiency, product quality and right-first-time performance.

What we are looking for

• A degree in Life Sciences or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant practical experience.
• Demonstrated experience in cGMP manufacturing, with previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.Sound knowledge of cell culture, aseptic processing and cleanroom practices within a classified manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in manufacturing and quality systems such as SAP and TrackWise, including relevant documentation and deviation workflows.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and resolve conflicts constructively.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize resources and make timely operational decisions.
• The ability to coach and influence others, reinforce accountability and address behaviours that do not meet safety, quality or compliance standards.
