Job summary

Illumina is seeking a Senior Scientist in Molecular Design & Synthesis to drive design, synthesis, and optimization of novel architectures for next-gen sequencing. You will integrate computational design with experimental chemistry to accelerate DMTL cycles and validate concepts.

The role combines hands-on synthesis with cheminformatics, data-driven design, and mentoring of junior scientists in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry or related field with strong publication record.
• Experience in peptide/oligonucleotide or bioconjugation chemistry is a plus.
• Proven ability to lead complex multidisciplinary projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize novel molecular constructs via structure-property relationships.
• Perform synthesis and characterization using SPPS, oligonucleotide chemistry, and related methods.
• Lead cross-functional teams and contribute to IP development.
