About our Line of Business –Satellite Systems
ST Engineering Satellite Systems Pte. Ltd. (SatSys) is a joint venture founded in 2010 by ST Engineering, DSO National Laboratories, and Nanyang Technological University. Today with our expertise and comprehensive suite of satellite engineering and test facility, SatSys design and develop satellite buses to integrate with various payloads, such as Electro-Optical (EO) camera, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and more, to meet the mission objectives of our customers.
Together, We Can Make A Significant Impact
As a highly experienced Senior SatelliteMechanical Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and qualification of mechanical systems for spacecraft missions. This role focuses on structural integrity, mechanical design, electronics packaging, and system reliability in the harsh space environment.
Be Part of Our Success
Mechanical Design & Development
- Lead the design of satellite mechanical systems including primary/secondary structures, mechanisms, and electronics enclosures/modules (e.g., avionics boxes, PCB assemblies)
- Perform detailed design using CAD tools (e.g., NX, CATIA, SolidWorks)
- Ensure compliance with launch loads, mechanical constraints, and space environment requirements
- Optimize designs for mass, stiffness, manufacturability, and integration efficiency
Structural Analysis
- Conduct structural analysis (static, dynamic, vibration, shock) using FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN)
- Perform structural verification of both spacecraft structures and electronics modules (PCB support, fasteners, enclosures)
- Validate designs against mission requirements and safety margins
Integration & Testing
- Support satellite assembly, integration, and test (AIT) activities
- Support mechanical integration of electronics units, harness routing, and structural interfaces
- Define and support environmental testing (vibration, acoustic, shock)
- Support in the investigation of any anomalies during integration and testing phases
Materials & Processes
- Select appropriate materials and surface treatments for space applications
- Define materials and finishes suitable for electronics enclosures and mounting structures
- Ensure compliance with space standards (e.g., outgassing, radiation tolerance, fatigue life)
- Work closely with manufacturing teams on producibility and qualification
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers
- Lead design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical/avionics teams to ensure proper mechanical-electrical integration
- Drive best practices in electronics packaging, structural robustness, and interface control
Documentation & Compliance
- Generate and maintain design documentation, analysis reports, and test procedures
- Develop related interface control documents (ICDs)
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ECSS, NASA, MIL-STD)
- Support mission reviews and customer deliverables
Qualities We Value
- Knowledge in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- Preferably 8 to 15 years of relevant experience in satellite or space system engineering is a plus
- Proven experience in spacecraft mechanical design, AIT, and electronics module/box-level design is highly desirable
- Proficiency in:
- CAD tools (NX, CATIA, SolidWorks)
- FEA tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN)
