Job summary

SIMTech's MCF group seeks a motivated research engineer to lead and support R&D and industrial projects in molten metal forming. The role focuses on designing innovative materials and processes for sectors such as semiconductor equipment, automotive, biomedical, and energy.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, supervise junior staff, and drive project timelines and deliverables while upholding safety and quality standards. Opportunities to publish and file patents are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor (Masters preferred) in Material Science or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with metal forming processes in R&D and industrial environments.
• High level of cross-technology engineering competency.
• Experience in leading project teams and people management.
• Proven track record of customer management and satisfaction.
• Well-networked with vendors/suppliers to complement own work.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of novel industrial components and metal forming solutions for thermal management and sustainability.
• Strategize and drive R&D and industrial engagement plans related to metal processing.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, publications, and patents for disseminating findings.
• Manage project timelines, budgets and deliverables.
• Provide mentorship and career development to team members.
• Collaborate with industry partners and academic institutions on joint projects.
• Support process equipment setup, lab operations and inventory management.
• Ensure safety and quality standards in lab and pilot-scale operations.
