Job summary

Givaudan, a leader in flavours and fragrances, seeks a Senior Product Developer for noodles to lead advanced development and apply flavour technology to deliver innovative food solutions for the APAC region. • Collaborate cross-functionally with Flavourists, marketing, sales, sensory, and flavour creation teams to meet objectives.
• Coach junior developers and promote best practices, documentation and consistency.

Senior Product Developer, Noodles

As the Senior Product Developer, you will lead advanced product development and application initiatives around noodles that translate business opportunities and customer needs into differentiated, technically robust food solutions. Apply deep knowledge of flavour technologies and formulation design to drive innovation and operational excellence across projects of significant scope and complexity. Serve as a trusted technical advisor to internal teams and customers, fostering collaboration, strengthening Givaudan’s customer intimacy, and enhancing sensory experiences, while ensuring adherence to environmental health and safety (EH&S) standards.

Core Responsibilities

Product Development

• Lead the full product development lifecycle, from concept and prototype creation through industrialization at customer sites, ensuring alignment with Givaudan’s portfolio architecture and technical standards.
• Design and implement tactical development plans that achieve broadly defined customer or business objectives, delivering successful outcomes for complex briefs.
• Collaborate cross functionally with Flavourists, marketing, sales, sensory, and flavour creation teams to develop innovative food and beverage solutions that meet regulatory requirements, cost objectives, and customer expectations.
• Conduct comprehensive formulation evaluations, interpreting data and performance results to recommend improvements and guide decision making under ambiguous conditions.
• Coach and advise junior developers, reinforcing best practices and promoting consistency in product quality, methodology, and documentation.

Technical Leadership

• Serve as the main technical reference for product formulation and application within key categories or technologies, providing specialised guidance to internal teams and external partners.
• Autonomously lead large scale projects or multiple product programs, integrating diverse technical inputs and coordinating cross functional resources for successful execution.
• Exchange ideas across multiple areas, influencing others through technical expertise and data driven insights.
• Drive adoption of new tools and methodologies, supporting continuous improvement and capability building within the function.
• Evaluate and propose enhancements to laboratory and pilot plant operations, ensuring equipment and processes align with project needs and technology trends.

Food Experience

• Strengthen the sensory and overall food experience of Givaudan products through the intelligent integration of customer feedback, market insights, and sensory data.
• Champion the use of Givaudan’s proprietary tools and technologies, demonstrating their value in product application and customer collaboration.
• Guide the technical community in preparing and presenting high\u001Equality prototypes and samples, showcasing flavour performance and sensory attributes during customer engagements.
• Direct internal teams in refining formulations based on sensory evaluation and market feedback, thereby improving quality, differentiation, and consumer appeal.

Environmental Health & Safety

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized lab environment in accordance with EH&S policies, ensuring compliance and accountability among team members.
• Actively participate in the design and implementation of EH&S guidelines and protocols, contributing to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
• be active member in the development and implementation of EH&S protocols, providing input based on practical experience and observations.
• Monitor and evaluate EH&S performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.

Academic Background

• B.S. in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or
• Master’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or
• Ph.D. in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology

Professional Experience

• Bachelor's Degree: minimum 10 - 14 years of experience in a food applications lab, production, or related area
• Master’s Degree: minimum 7- 9 years of experience in a food applications lab, production, or related area
• Ph.D.: minimum 4 - 6 years of experience in a food applications lab, production, or related area

Technical Skills

• Project management skills with success record and considered to be an excellent choice to lead large development projects including the largest customer briefs and technical development projects in selected applications areas
• Ability to lead projects for customers and considered to be a leader in customer relationship skills in a specific applications area
• Expert technical problem solving skills in multiple applications areas
• Ability to prepare and present basic technical presentations
• Ability to supervise and manage technicians and technologists and instruct scientists
• Understanding of Analytical/Sensory methodology as relevant to flavour selection
