Qualifications

• 6–8 years of experience in Process Engineering and APC optimization in oil & gas.

Job Summary

The Senior Process Control Engineer is responsible for delivering Advanced Process Control (APC) and digitalization solutions to enhance safety, energy efficiency, process performance, and product optimization across Aster’s refinery and chemical operations. The role evaluates and implements emerging technologies, including AI and Machine Learning (AI/ML), to maximize the value of operational data and improve organizational capabilities.

The role also provides digitalization leadership, drives the adoption of digital solutions across the organization, and builds internal capabilities through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities:

• Evaluate, develop, and implement APC, AI/ML, and other digitalization solutions to realize optimization opportunities across refinery and chemical units.
• Identify opportunities to improve process automation, control, and optimization, working closely with APC engineers and relevant stakeholders to address performance gaps.
• Engage stakeholders and support users in the adoption and effective utilization of optimization and digital technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and IT to ensure digital solutions are implemented safely, securely, and effectively.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve digital solutions to maximize functionality, utilization, and business value.
• Build digital capabilities and resources within the Process Technology Department through knowledge sharing, coaching, and collaboration.
• Manage projects and vendors to ensure the timely and effective delivery of digital and optimization solutions.
• Stay current with developments in digitalization, process control, and optimization technologies to identify opportunities for continuous value creation.
• Advocate for digital enhancements and promote solutions that improve productivity and operational performance across the organization.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum 6–8 years of experience in Process Engineering and Advanced Process Control (APC) optimization within the oil & gas industry, with the ability to identify, assess, and recommend relevant solutions.
• Proven project experience in Advanced Process Control (APC), with hands‑on programming experience in process optimization and APC applications.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing business processes and operational workflows, with the ability to collaborate across different functions and contribute to the development of future systems and solutions.
• Strong knowledge of AI and ML fundamentals and applications, including experience in evaluating and deploying AI/ML‑related solutions. Experience leading such projects would be an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of network infrastructure and architecture, IT/OT integration, computer systems, automation systems, data engineering, and analytics.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Base Layer Control, process modelling, and Real-Time Optimization (RTO).
• Knowledge of real‑time monitoring, Process Automation Systems Engineering, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), safeguarding, and operational interfaces.
• Good awareness of Operational Technology (OT) security.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders from diverse professional backgrounds and drive adoption of new solutions.
• Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
