The role requires 8–10 years in high-complexity environments and familiarity with IAEA SSR-2/1, ASME, EN/ISO, and probabilistic safety tools.

Responsibilities

• Engineering benchmarking: build specialised expertise in advanced thermal-hydraulic, core physics, and materials.
• Multi-disciplinary assessment: verify technical claims across Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical disciplines.
• Conceptual modelling: develop benchmarks and reference architectures for reactor concepts such as SMRs and Gen-IV systems.
• Feasibility research: explore modular construction and system co-location.
• Hazard modelling: develop PRA/FTA-based risk modelling capabilities.
• Safety case research: study deterministic and probabilistic controls alignment.
• Standards governance: evaluate how design changes affect safety envelope.
• Strategic partnerships: coordinate with international consultants and research organisations.
• Standards advocacy: apply international standards to optimise technology for space constraints.
• Technology horizon scanning: monitor trends in advanced nuclear tech to inform leadership.
