Job summary

Egis in Singapore is seeking a senior leader to build the nuclear environmental practice, win commissions from EMA, NEA and related agencies, and position the firm as the go-to partner for Phase 1 milestones across Singapore’s nuclear programme.

You will lead environmental studies, manage multi-disciplinary teams, nurture relationships with government ministries and development banks in Southeast Asia, and travel regionally to advance opportunities while upholding Egis’s standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering and/or Environmental Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in environmental impact assessment, incl. nuclear plants or similar energy infrastructure.
• Experience with IAEA Milestones and environmental infrastructure requirements.
• Proven consultancy delivery under international safeguards frameworks.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and travel across Southeast Asia.

Job description

Singapore is actively investing in its nuclear energy capabilities. The government has established dedicated nuclear teams at the Energy Market Authority (EMA) and National Environmental Agency (NEA), backed the Singapore Nuclear Research and Safety Institute (SNRSI) at NUS with a S$66 million grant, and announced an IAEA Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure Review starting in 2027. Small modular reactors are the technology of primary interest given Singapore’s land constraints. This signals a sustained, government-led commitment to building the foundations needed to make an informed decision on nuclear deployment.

This creates a concrete near-term opportunity for Egis to participate in Singapore’s nuclear programme, and a broader regional pipeline across Southeast Asia, where Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia are each at varying stages of nuclear energy consideration. The candidate will play a key role in the establishment of Egis’s nuclear practice in Singapore, building client relationships, technical credibility, and market presence that will position the Group for the decade of work ahead as Singapore and the region progress along the IAEA Milestones framework. The successful candidate will work in close partnership with the Managing Director, Singapore, and draw on Egis’s nuclear and environmental practices in France, the UK, Canada and Australia.

Job Description

Specific Responsibilities & Accountabilities

1) Business Development — Singapore Nuclear Programme

• Identify and win commissions arising from Singapore’s nuclear infrastructure build-up, targeting studies and advisory work commissioned by EMA, NEA, MTI, EDB, SNRSI, and related agencies.
• Position Egis as the preferred nuclear and environmental engineering partner for Singapore in progressing Phase 1 workstreams for IAEA 19-Step Milestones, including site selection, environment protection, radiation safety and waste management.
• Develop relationships with the relevant government counterparts and research institutions to be front-of-mind when Singapore’s nuclear-related commissions go to market.

2) Technical Delivery — IAEA Milestones Environmental Workstreams

• Lead and deliver nuclear-related environmental engineering commissions in Phase 1: environmental and socio-economic baseline investigations; site-specific impact screening; cooling water dispersion and thermal plume modelling; air quality, noise, and radiological dispersion modelling; and environmental monitoring programme design.
• Apply experience from nuclear power plant projects to translate IAEA infrastructure requirements into concrete, deliverable study scopes, structured to help clients build the evidence base they need ahead of the INIR audit.
• Manage multi-disciplinary project teams and ensure deliverables meet the quality and safeguards standards expected by international development clients and Singapore government agencies.

3) Regional Business Development

• Develop and maintain relationships with energy ministries, nuclear regulatory bodies, and development finance institutions (World Bank, ADB, JICA, AIIB) across Southeast Asia.
• Lead proposal preparation and convert client relationships into secured commissions.

4) Stakeholder Engagement and Practice Development

• Act as primary liaison with government agencies, nuclear regulators, research institutions, and development partners on nuclear environmental matters.
• Engage with IAEA networks and technical associations to maintain visibility and support Egis’s positioning.
• Develop Egis’s nuclear environmental positioning in Singapore and Southeast Asia through publications, conference participation, and industry forum engagement.

5) Ethics and Brand Representation

Uphold Egis’s values and professional standards; act as an ambassador for the Group in the sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering and/or Environmental Engineering / Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline;
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in environmental impact assessment, with a significant portion on nuclear power plants, or comparable complex energy infrastructure;
• Demonstrated experience in nuclear-related environmental studies, including environmental and socio-economic baseline investigations; site suitability and impact screening; cooling water dispersion and thermal plume modelling; air quality, noise, and radiological dispersion modelling;
• Familiarity with the IAEA Milestones Approach, and in particular the environmental infrastructure requirements relevant to Phase 1;
• Track record of delivering consultancy projects under World Bank, ADB, JICA, IFC, or UNDP safeguards frameworks;
• Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage deliverables to international development standards;
• Established relationships with energy ministries, nuclear regulatory bodies, or development finance institutions in Southeast Asia;
• Ability to operate independently and convert relationships into secured work;
• Strong English communication skills — able to translate technical findings into client-facing outputs;
• Based in Singapore and willingness to travel regularly across Southeast Asia where required.
