Job summary

Surbana Jurong invites a skilledSenior Piping Engineer to join their Infrastructure Global Energy team in Singapore. You will lead feasibility, FEED and detailed piping work for underground and high-pressure gas pipelines, ensuring compliance with project specs and regulatory standards.

You will prepare layouts, MTOs, and design basis, review 3D models, and support commissioning and testing activities with EPCs and clients. A strong background in gas pipeline projects is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level degree in a relevant engineering field.
• Minimum eight years in piping engineering for oil & gas pipelines.
• Experience with high-pressure gas transmission projects.
• Familiarity with codes/API/ASME/ISO standards.

Job description

Surbana Jurong Infrastructure Global Energy Department is seeking to hire a (Senior) Piping Engineer. This role offers challenging career prospects for individuals with a strong interest in gas (natural gas, LPG and hydrogen) pipelines, hydrocarbon pipelines and aviation fuel pipelines, as well as consultancy and engineering work. Prior experience in these areas will be an advantage.

Duties

• Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
• o Independently carry out feasibility studies, conceptual design, basic engineering, Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and detailed engineering for underground piping and pipeline works, in particular high-pressure gas transmission pipelines and aviation fuel projects.
• o Independently prepare and review key project documentation to execute the complete piping engineering scope of work in accordance with project requirements and customer expectations.
• o Develop terminal plot plans, piping layout drawings and general arrangement drawings for tank farms, pump stations, truck and vessel loading/unloading facilities and jetty areas.
• o Develop layouts for pig launcher/receiver stations, metering stations and off-take stations for gas systems.
• o Independently perform pipe stress analysis for aboveground and underground piping and pipelines using CAESAR II.
• o Independently perform pipe wall thickness calculations in accordance with applicable codes and standards, such as ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8 and AS 2885, as well as local regulatory requirements.
• o Develop scopes of work, piping design basis, piping material specifications and painting/coating specifications for process and utility services.
• o Select valves, prepare branch tables, and specify flanges, gaskets and bolting for piping design.
• o Prepare piping material take-offs (MTOs).
• o Review and comment on EPC design and construction specifications, detailed design calculations, plot plans and piping drawings. Check 3D models of piping and equipment to ensure they are executed in accordance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Review and comment on construction activities, and witness performance tests during Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
• Supervise the fabrication, installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning of piping and equipment.
• Prepare work progress reports and submit them to senior team members for review and approval before issuing to owners and other parties for approval.

Requirements

• Education:
• Bachelor's degree (Hons) in Mechanical / Chemical / Process Engineering from a recognised university.
• A master’s degree or postgraduate qualification in pipeline engineering or a related field is advantageous.
• Required experience and skills:
• Minimum eight (8) years (Senior Piping Engineer) of experience in conceptual, FEED and detailed engineering for piping in the oil & gas sector and high-pressure gas transmission and distribution pipeline projects.
• Extensive experience in pipeline engineering, with a strong focus on underground gas pipeline projects.
• Experience in SP Group (PowerGas) and Aviation projects will be an added advantage.
• Conversant with relevant international and local codes, standards and practices (e.g. API, ASME, ISO, AS) for piping, pipelines, valves and piping equipment.
• Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, AutoCAD and CAESAR II. Familiarity with 3D model review software (e.g. Navisworks, AVEVA E3D, AutoPIPE, PipeSim or equivalent) will be an advantage.
• Experience in hot-tapping and welding works, testing & commissioning and operation of gas pipelines will be an added advantage.
• Proven track record of working in a consultant or advisory engineering capacity.
• Hands-on experience with pipeline construction, welding inspection, NDT methods, and commissioning activities.
• Demonstrated experience working with gas utility companies, EPC contractors, or engineering consultancies on similar projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to solve problems independently.
• Team player with the ability to work with and manage clients and contractors.
