Job summary

ERP21 PTE LTD in Singapore is seeking a Senior OData/ABAP Developer to lead SAP backend development. You will design, implement, and optimize ABAP programs and OData services within complex SAP landscapes, and mentor junior developers.

The role requires extensive hands-on experience with SEGW, RAP, CDS views, SAP Gateway, and S/4HANA, plus strong collaboration with functional teams to translate business needs into technical designs and ensure quality delivery.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of hands-on ABAP development experience in SAP environments.
• Strong expertise in OData service development (SEGW, RAP, CDS-based OData services).
• Proficiency in CDS Views, AMDP, and modern ABAP development techniques (ABAP on HANA).
• Experience with SAP Gateway architecture and Fiori/UI5 backend integration.
• Strong understanding of RAP and BOPF is a plus.
• Experience with S/4HANA implementations and migrations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance ABAP programs including reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, and workflows (RICEFW objects).
• Design and develop OData services using SEGW, RAP, CDS views and exposure via SAP Gateway/NetWeaver Gateway and embedded S/4HANA models.
• Build and consume OData services for Fiori/UI5 applications and other front-end consumers.
• Develop and optimize CDS Views for reporting and service exposure.
• Perform code reviews, performance tuning, and troubleshooting of ABAP programs and OData services.
• Lead technical design discussions and mentor junior ABAP/OData developers.
• Collaborate with functional consultants to translate business requirements into technical designs.
• Support integration between SAP and non-SAP systems via OData, REST, and other middleware technologies.
• Ensure adherence to SAP development standards, security guidelines, and best practices.
• Support end-to-end SDLC activities including unit testing, documentation, and deployment.
• Provide production support and troubleshooting for critical business processes.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior OData/ABAP Developer with extensive experience in SAP backend development and OData service design. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of designing, developing, and optimizing ABAP programs and OData services within complex SAP landscapes, and will be capable of leading technical design discussions and mentoring junior developers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance ABAP programs including reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, and workflows (RICEFW objects)
• Design and develop OData services (both SAP Gateway/NetWeaver Gateway and embedded S/4HANA models) using SEGW, RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model), and CDS views
• Build and consume OData services for Fiori/UI5 applications and other front-end consumers
• Develop and optimize CDS Views (both classic and RAP-based) for reporting and service exposure
• Perform code reviews, performance tuning, and troubleshooting of ABAP programs and OData services
• Collaborate with functional consultants to translate business requirements into technical designs
• Lead technical design workshops and provide architectural guidance on ABAP/OData solutions
• Support integration between SAP and non-SAP systems via OData, REST, and other middleware technologies
• Ensure adherence to SAP development standards, security guidelines, and best practices
• Mentor and guide junior ABAP/OData developers
• Support end-to-end SDLC activities including unit testing, documentation, and deployment

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 12 years of hands-on ABAP development experience in SAP environments

• Experience with S/4HANA implementations and migrations
• Solid understanding of ABAP Objects (OOABAP), enhancement frameworks (BAdIs, user exits), and performance optimization techniques
• Experience with debugging, performance tracing (SAT, ST05), and troubleshooting complex OData/ABAP issues
• Familiarity with integration technologies (IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, Web Services)
• Strong communication skills with ability to interface directly with business and functional teams
• Experience working in onshore/offshore delivery models is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• SAP certification(s) in ABAP, S/4HANA, or related technologies
• Prior experience in a senior/lead technical role within SAP projects
• Experience across multiple full-cycle SAP implementations
