Job summary

Ren Ci Hospital in Singapore seeks an experienced Nursing Educator to plan, coordinate, and deliver clinical education for nursing staff and students. You will lead orientation and in-house training, and evaluate training effectiveness to meet professional standards.

Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to identify learning needs, source external opportunities, and coordinate clinical placements. Requirements include a nursing degree and teaching qualifications, with WSQ ACLP certification

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level nursing degree or higher with teaching qualification preferred
• Post-basic education qualification or clinical specialty background is desirable
• WSQ ACLP certification is considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, coordinate and conduct orientation and in-house training programs and evaluate effectiveness.
• Source external learning opportunities; organize conferences, seminars and workshops.
• Advise clinical instructors/preceptors on nursing student competencies and learning needs.
• Support Nurse Manager in investigating ward incidents involving nursing students.
• Maintain compliance with nursing standards and patient care practices; model best practices.
• Coordinate clinical placements for nursing students and facilitate attachments from external organizations.

Job description

Select how often (in days) to receive an alert:

• Conduct training needs analysis to determine skills / knowledge gap
• Plan, develop, co-ordinate / conduct orientation and in-house training / education program and evaluate effectiveness of training program
• Source for external learning opportunities; facilitate / organize conferences, seminars and workshops.
• Guide and advise clinical instructors/preceptors regarding nursing students and staff competencies matters.
• Support the Nurse Manager in investigating ward incidents pertaining to nursing students.
• Support the Nurse Manager to maintain consistent compliance in standards of patient.
• Providing supervision to all grades of nurses, including trainee nurses.
• Identifying skills and knowledge deficits in nursing care delivery.
• Plan and coordinate with Nurse Manager and Nurse Clinician to identify staff for advanced/specialized staff development, e.g. Advanced diplomas, (Community Care Manpower Development Awards (CCMDA) etc.
• Maximize training budget to achieve maximal utilization for staff education and development.
• Market training program to external organizations.
• Coordinate clinical placements for nursing students, and request for attachments from external organizations.

Clinical Practices and Standards

• Serve as a role model in clinical practices and standards.
• Uphold nursing standards and care practices through monitoring practices.
• Work with Nurse Clinician to develop audit tools to monitor nursing care practices.
• Assist in emergency situations involving patient care.

Nursing Research

• Strengthen the link between clinical nursing and research.
• Critically review research articles, communicate and apply significant findings to their areas of practice.
• Encourage nurses to identify research questions, participate in research and apply findings to practice.

Accreditation

• Assist reporting officer in preparing, submitting and obtaining the accreditation.
• Work with reporting officer to strategize and plan for the development of the department based on organizational needs.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Nursing or a post basic qualification in Education, or Clinical Specialty.
• Registered Nurse with Singapore Nursing Board.
• WSQ Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP)
