Job summary

Argyll Scott Singapore is seeking a Data Engineer to design, develop and support secure, scalable backend applications using .NET Core, C# and AWS cloud services. The role emphasizes backend development, APIs, microservices and event-driven integrations across product, architecture, QA, DevOps and cloud teams.

You will build robust REST APIs, implement secure coding practices, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines while delivering reliable cloud-based solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field.
• 6-8 years of software development experience including design, development, testing, release and prod support.
• Strong hands-on with .NET Core / .NET 6+, C#, ASP.NET Core, Web APIs, EF Core, LINQ, asynchronous programming and secure coding.
• Practical AWS development across SNS, SQS, Lambda, EventBridge, API Gateway, EKS/ECS, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, Secrets Manager, IAM and CloudWatch.
• Strong understanding of event-driven architecture and messaging patterns, including publish/subscribe, queues, retries, dead-letter, idempotency, and eventual consistency.
• Experience with microservices, REST APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, JSON, XML, service-to-service communication and API-led integration.
• Knowledge of SQL Server, PostgreSQL and NoSQL (MongoDB/DynamoDB), plus Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD and IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Testing, security, secrets management, encryption, least-privilege access, OWASP and secure API design.
• Experience with tools like VS, NuGet, Git, Jira, Confluence, Postman, Jenkins, GitHub Actions; monitoring/logging.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain backend applications using .NET Core, C#, ASP.NET Core Web APIs, EF Core and related Microsoft technologies.
• Develop secure REST APIs, microservices and reusable integration components with proper validation, versioning, authentication and authorization.
• Build event-driven solutions using AWS SNS, SQS, Lambda and EventBridge with tracing and retries.
• Support AWS-hosted workloads across API Gateway, EKS/ECS, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, Secrets Manager, IAM and CloudWatch.
• Apply microservices, distributed systems, observability, logging and monitoring to improve reliability.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation including API contracts, event schemas and operation notes.
• Support CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, releases and IaC using Git-based tools.
