BERKELEY EDUCATION ALLIANCE FOR RESEARCH IN SINGAPORE LIMITED (BEARS) is seeking a motivated researcher to advance ML-driven discovery and optimization of catalytic performance for CO2 conversion. You will collaborate with NTU and A*STAR ISCE2 to push decarbonization research.

The role involves developing ML algorithms, participating in lab automation, and contributing to material development for catalytic processes across thermal, electro-, and plasma catalysis.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of relevant work experience in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials, or physics.
  • Experience with Process Engineering & Modelling programs such as Aspen HYSYS and ALOHA, and programming languages including MATLAB, Python, C, HTML, SQL, and Excel VBA.
  • Knowledge of analytical methods and materials characterization (XRD, UV-Vis, NMR, FTIR).
  • Independent, diligent, and professional with a positive work attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply ML algorithms for discovery and optimization of catalytic performance.
  • Participate in lab automation projects with other researchers.
  • Contribute to ideation and development of new catalytic materials for CO2/CO conversion.
  • Prepare and characterize catalysts; participate in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Run catalyst reactions in various reactors for thermal catalysis, electrocatalysis, and plasma catalysis.
  • Document test records and reports; assist with technology disclosure and publications.
  • Ensure adherence to safety policies and compliance requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and team members.
