Job summary

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years in semiconductor/automation equipment preferred; fresh graduates encouraged.
• Experience with mechanical design, tolerance analysis and FEA is advantageous.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD tools is required.
• Experience with vision applications and thermal modelling is a plus.
• Willingness to be hands-on during development and validation.

Position Summary

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, integration and validation of mechanical systems and subsystems for semiconductor test and automation equipment. The role supports projects from concept development through manufacturing release and customer deployment while ensuring product quality, reliability and performance requirements are met.

Responsibilities

Mechanical Design & Development

• Collaborate with System Engineers to define mechanical system and subsystem design specifications.
• Perform mechanical component selection, tolerance analysis and motion system design.
• Develop mechanical solutions that meet design, reliability and manufacturability requirements.
• Prepare engineering documentation, models and drawings for product development and manufacturing support.

System Integration & Validation

• Support the integration, testing and validation of systems during development and manufacturing.
• Participate in prototype build, troubleshooting and engineering verification activities.
• Support installation and commissioning activities at customer sites when required.
• Assist in resolving technical issues during development and system deployment.

Project & Vendor Management

• Support project activities from concept development through release to manufacturing.
• Work with internal teams and external design partners on engineering projects.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure deliverables meet design, quality and reliability requirements.

Technical Support & Continuous Improvement

• Provide technical support during equipment assembly, system validation and customer-site deployment.
• Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance, quality and reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field.
• 3 years or more relevant experience in semiconductor equipment, automation equipment or related industries. Fresh graduates are also encouraged to apply.
• Experience in wafer fabrication, semiconductor equipment or medical equipment industries would be an advantage.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering principles and problem-solving techniques.
• Knowledge of tolerance stack-up analysis and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software is required.
• Experience with vision applications is an advantage.
• Exposure to thermal modelling, calculations and measurement techniques is an advantage.
• Willingness to be hands-on during product development and validation activities.
• Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional and multicultural environments.
• Willing to work extended hours during critical project phases when required.
