About the role

Hylax Technology Pte Ltd is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team on a full-time basis. This position is based in Ang Mo Kio Town Centre, North-East Region, and represents a key leadership opportunity within our mechanical engineering department. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be instrumental in driving the design, development, and optimisation of mechanical systems and components that form the backbone of our innovative product offerings. This role carries significant responsibility for technical excellence, project delivery, and the mentorship of junior engineering staff.

Key responsibilities

• Design, analyse, and develop mechanical systems and components using advanced CAD software and engineering simulation tools
• Lead the mechanical design phase of projects from concept through to detailed design and prototype development
• Conduct feasibility studies and provide technical recommendations for new product initiatives and process improvements
• Perform stress analysis, thermal analysis, and other engineering simulations to ensure product reliability and performance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, software, and manufacturing departments to ensure seamless product integration
• Oversee supplier engagement and quality control for mechanical components and subassemblies
• Mentor and support junior mechanical engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering professional development
• Prepare detailed technical documentation, drawings, and reports in accordance with industry standards
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical input on cost optimisation and manufacturing feasibility

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Minimum 7-10 years of professional experience in mechanical design and engineering within a manufacturing or product development environment
• Advanced proficiency in CAD software (such as SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD, or equivalent) and engineering simulation tools (ANSYS, COMSOL, or similar)
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes
• Demonstrated experience with product lifecycle management and design for manufacturability
• Proven track record of leading technical projects from conception through to successful implementation
• Experience in mentoring and developing junior engineering staff
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure with multiple concurrent projects
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
• Professional Engineering (PE) certification or equivalent qualification is highly desirable
• Experience in sectors such as precision engineering, automotive, aerospace, or industrial equipment is advantageous
