Job summary

KOWA SKYMECH PTE. LTD. seeks a senior design engineering leader to steer all design activities for Factory Automation and Smart-Factory project teams, translating customer requirements into proposals and guiding cross-functional engineers.

You will mentor teams, oversee detailed design and testing protocols, and coordinate with vendors to ensure smooth manufacturing and execution. The role emphasizes leadership in design reviews, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and advancing

Responsibilities

• Interpret the customer's requirements and translate into proposals and conceptualization for new machine/equipment.
• Liaise and follow-up with the customer on project proposal, subsequent project activities and development.
• Lead design team comprising of project engineers, technicians, design engineers (mechanical & electrical) and the SCM team to ensure smooth workflow in manufacturing & assembly.
• Lead & mentor project & design reviews with customer's requirements & feedback on project matters.
• Follow-up with vendors in the supply chain on project matters.
• Perform detailed designs and critical drawings on time and upon PM approval, forward to vendors for quotations & fabrication.
• Lead meetings and reviews with design team and customers on design requirements and specification.
• Mentor design engineers and assistants in detailed designing, material selection and drawing checks.
• Draft machine testing protocol enabling the manufacturing team to test run the machine.
• Ensure that all project documents, drawings and materials are updated and documented.
• Lead & team up with cross-disciplinary teams focusing on smart factory technologies & projects.
• Ideate and build robust data and digital technology driven solutions for advanced manufacturing / industrial processes.
• Leverage AI and robotics-integration solutions to meet customers' automation & real-time needs.
• Good working knowledge on Inventor and/ SolidWorks.

Overall Description of Job

To lead and supervise all design activities in Factory Automation & Smart-Factory project teams to meet customers' requirements.

Responsibilities & Accountability

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

• Interpret the customer's requirements and translate them into proposal and conceptualization for new machine/equipment.
• Liaise and follow-up with the customer on project proposal, subsequent project activities and development.
• As the lead design engineer being responsible to monitor & follow-up on the project team comprising of project engineers & technicians, design engineers (both mechanical & electrical) and the SCM team to ensure a smooth work flow in the manufacturing & assembly process.
• To lead & mentor project & design reviews with customer's requirements & feedback on project matters.
• Follow-up with vendors in the supply chain on matters related to the project.

DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

• To perform detail designs and critical drawings on time and upon the approval of the project manager, forward the designs to the respective vendors and suppliers for quotations & fabrication.
• To lead meetings and review with the design team and the customers on design requirements and specification.
• Being the mentor and to provide guidance to the team of design engineers, assistant design engineers in their job scope ranging from detailed designing, the selection of materials/standard items to the checking of drawings etc.
• Draft machine testing protocol (especially for critical function) enabling the manufacturing team to test run the machine.
• Ensure that all project documents, drawings and materials (soft & hard copies) are updated and appropriately documented and compiled accordingly.

• To lead & team up with cross-disciplinary teams of engineers & specialists focusing on smart factory technologies & projects.
