Job summary

ST ENGINEERING ADVANCED MATERIAL ENGINEERING PTE. LTD. is seeking an Material Engineer to drive innovation in advanced materials for defence and public security. You will design, test, and implement material systems, collaborating across R&D, manufacturing, and QA teams to ensure performance and reliability.

You will perform detailed analyses, generate technical documentation, and stay updated on new material science advances to support project development and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency with CAD tools, especially Solidworks.
• Ability to analyse material performance and apply engineering principles.
• Strong communication and collaboration across departments.
• Willing to travel for field testing and supplier engagement.

Role Summary:

As an Material Engineer, you will be pivotal in drivinginnovation and excellence within our engineering projects. The role involvescollaborating closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, andimplement advanced materials that meet stringent performance and safetystandards.

Job Description:

• Design, develop, and improve advanced material systems tailored for applications including but not limited to defence and public security.


• Perform detailed analysis and testing to ensure materials meet required physical, chemical, and mechanical properties.


• Engage in the full product development lifecycle including concept generation, prototyping, testing, and production support.


• Collaborate with internal teams such as research and development, manufacturing, and quality assurance to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.


• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and material science advances relevant to the defence sector, applying this knowledge to project development.


• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation and reports for internal teams and external stakeholders.


• Support continual improvement initiatives to enhance processes, reduce costs, and improve product reliability and durability.


• For Senior Engineer roles, provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support leadership in project planning and execution.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Engineering Product Development,Engineering Systems and Design and/or a related discipline.


• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. Solidworks) will be highlyadvantageous.


• Proficiency in analysing material performance and applying engineering principles to solve complex challenges.


• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across departments.


• Problem-solving mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous learning.


• Experience with project management and familiarity with quality systems will be advantageous.


• Willing to travel for field testing and supplier engagement.
