Job summary

Rystad Energy in APAC (ex-China) seeks a Senior Market Analyst to strengthen gas and LNG research. You will own regional analysis, forecast supply, demand, and prices, and contribute to global market projections using Rystad datasets.

The role requires 5+ years in energy/gas research, strong data synthesis, proficiency in Excel/PowerPoint, and the ability to present findings at conferences and client meetings.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of direct industry experience in energy and gas market research or competitor intelligence groups at E&P, midstream or LNG companies.
• Strong academic track record in economics, engineering, finance, or information technology.
• Ability to synthesize data and information from multiple sources (quantitative and qualitative).
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the global and regional expert for natural gas and LNG market research.
• Forecast natural gas demand by sector (power, industrial, residential, etc.), both short and long-term with the role of gas in energy transition
• Track developments in the liquefaction and pipeline projects and bring insights to the process of forecasting future supply and flows
• Contribute to global forecasting processes for international gas balances and prices
• Produce fundamental models and quantitative & qualitative research reports and deliver strategic market outlook
• Participation at conferences and client meetings, and assist with business development activities

The role

We are looking for a talented and motivated Senior Market Analyst to strengthen our Gas and LNG Market research presence in APAC (ex-China). The candidate will be responsible for providing natural gas and LNG industry expertise. The role is part of Rystad Energy's Global Gas and LNG Commodity Market research team that is responsible for global and regional natural gas and LNG market research.

The candidate will contribute with analysis of the global and primarily, the Asia ex-China gas markets. The role involves data collection and forecasts for the Gas & LNG value chain, including storage and related pipeline, LNG trade flows and price formation using our bottom-up approach to data. The candidate should have an in-depth understanding of medium-term to long-term LNG market dynamics and be able to combine quantitative and qualitative inputs to deliver insights and forecasts to our global client base.

Responsibilities include creating models using data gathered from primary research and proprietary Rystad Energy datasets to forecast supply, demand, and pricing trends for country-wide and regional markets as well as global markets. The candidate will also be expected to create and deliver effective presentations and impactful research notes showcasing findings from data analysis and market research. Senior analysts are often involved in supporting Gas and LNG-related consulting projects with Rystad Energy's advisory team.

Requirements / Skills

• Minimum 5 years of direct industry experience in energy and gas market research or competitor intelligence groups at E&P, midstream or LNG companies
• Strong academic track record in the relevant education field (e.g. economics, engineering, finance, information technology)
• Demonstrated ability to synthesize data and information coming from multiple sources (quantitative and qualitative)
• Ability to handle and process large data sets, preferably using Python or any other commonly used programming language is a plus
• Solid proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on attitude
• Commercial mindset
• Outstanding team player, also fully capable of working independently
• Occasional travels for client visits and industry events
• Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents (PRs) will be prioritised for this position
