Job summary

SMRT Corporation Ltd is seeking a Manager/Senior Manager for Supervisory Control System Engineering in Singapore. The role leads a team to address reliability of the Supervisory Control system and related equipment, coaching staff, and coordinating with Ops, Maintenance, and other departments to maintain high system availability.

The successful candidate will guide defect troubleshooting, failure analysis, reliability trending, and develop engineering solutions to meet defined targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• More than 8 years of experience in Supervisory Control System related field.
• Fluent in written and oral English.

Responsibilities

• Lead team to investigate defects with Ops and Maintenance and improve maintenance strategies.
• Analyze and trend condition monitoring and defect data to identify reliability concerns.
• Vet and review technical work instructions for preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Review and update System Hazard log and Risk register.
• Identify and implement cost-effective technologies to enhance SMRT Supervisory Control system performance.
• Support LTA and SMRT projects in reviewing project design specifications for safety, reliability, maintainability, and operability.
• Coach and develop team in engineering and management skills.
• Ensure effective knowledge management of systems under charge.
• Identify and report safety concerns at the workplace.
• Perform admin tasks, respond to emergencies, support project testing & commissioning, and prepare reports.
• Work in any SMRT line or Maintenance Depots.

Job description

Job Purpose

The Manager / Senior Manager, Supervisory Control System Engineering, is to provide leadership and management to his team. The team is expected to provide engineering solutions to reliability problems affecting Supervisory Control system and their associated equipment. He will be required to coach and guide the team in defect troubleshooting, failure analysis, reliability trending, and develop engineering solutions to the problems identified; ensuring that each system and sub-system is performing within the defined reliability targets. He will also have to collaborate with other internal and external stakeholders on engineering and maintenance efforts and ensure high system reliability and availability.

Responsibilities

1. Effectively lead his team to work effectively with Ops and Maintenance staff from the Lines as well as other engineering departments to investigate defects. They are to develop methods, propose modifications and improve maintenance strategies to rectify them.
2. Lead his team in analyzing and trending condition monitoring and defect data to identify reliability concerns. They are to develop methods, propose modifications and improve maintenance strategies to overcome them
3. Vet and review technical work instructions for preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
4. Review and update System Hazard log and Risk register
5. Identify and implement cost effective technologies to enhance SMRT Supervisory Control system performance.
6. Support LTA and SMRT projects in reviewing project design specifications and ensure their adequacy for the safety, reliability, maintainability and operability. To provide other engineering support to the projects, as required.
7. Responsible for his team’s technical competency, safety, welfare, learning and development. He is to coach, nurture and develop his team in engineering and management skills.
8. Responsible for the effective knowledge management of the systems under his charge.
9. Identify and report any safety concerns at the workplace.
10. Undertake any other tasks or functions that are incidental or ancillary to the performance of the works, as assigned by supervisor:
    1. Perform admin functions
    2. Respond to operations emergencies
    3. Support the execution of projects; including verifying contractor’s work completion, providing manpower to support project testing & commissioning, attendance to contractors, etc
    4. Preparation of reports

Qualifications & Work Experience

• Bachelor degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or equivalent
• More than 8 years of experience in Supervisory Control System related field

Skills

Technical skills include:

• Good understanding of intergrated/supervisory control system design and interface requirement.
• Good understanding of computer IP network. Ability to troubleshoot and analyze network issues.
• Good understanding industrial protocols, such as MODbus, OPC, PLC and serial interface.
• Good understanding on various client-server platform.

General skills include:

• Adept with diagnostic and reliability engineering methodologies, such as Weibull Analysis, Failure Mode and Effect Criticality Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, and Best practices in Maintenance Science
• Good leadership and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
• Fluent in written and oral communication skills in English
