Job summary

SMRT Corporation Ltd in Singapore seeks a qualified maintenance lead to head a team of Technical Officers for preventive and corrective maintenance on trains and equipment, adhering to quality and safety procedures.

You will plan and supervise work, coordinate tasks, document faults and work orders, and participate in skills training to achieve required qualifications; polytechnic diploma in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics preferred.

Qualifications

  • Polytechnic diploma in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics.
  • Preferably 1–3 years relevant maintenance experience.
  • Possession of welder/machinist qualification adds value.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and supervise work carried out by the team.
  • Assist Engineering Maintenance Manager in meeting KPIs set by Division.
  • Assist in planning of work duties.
  • Disseminate instructions and procedures from supervisors to team.
  • Assist in engineering analysis and investigations on incidents/accidents.
  • Prepare Quality Procedures / Risk Assessments / Work Instructions / Work Records.
  • Raise corrective maintenance job orders and review upon completion.
  • Record faults, complete work orders and input data into SAP/Maximo.

Job description

Job Purpose
  1. Lead a team of Technical Officers in carrying out scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) on Trains/Equipment/Component assigned by supervisor.
  2. Execute and comply all PM & CM works and related tasks with the approved quality procedures and work instructions.
  3. Execute and comply all tasks with the approved safety and operational procedures.
  4. Attend the necessary skills courses to be able to carry out the maintenance tasks.
  5. Responsible for the upkeep of the working environment.
Responsibilities
  1. Plan and supervise work carried out by the team members.
  2. Assist Engineering Maintenance Manager (EMM) in meeting the key performance indicators set by Division.
  3. Assist EMM in planning of work duties.
  4. Disseminate instructions and procedures issued by supervisors to team members.
  5. Assist supervisors in conducting engineering analysis and investigations on incidents/accidents.
  6. Assist EMM / Engineer in the preparation of Quality Procedures / Risk Assessment / Work Instructions / Work Records.
  7. Raise corrective maintenance job orders and review upon completion when required.
  8. Record all faults reported, complete work orders and key in other input into SAP/Maximo and any other recording system.
  9. Able to participate and complete the technical Skills training provided by SMRT and achieve the necessary qualification to perform maintenance work on SMRT Component Service Centre.
  10. Be sufficiently competent to carry out preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on SMRT Component Service Centre, as assigned by supervisors.
  11. Able to complete the preventive and corrective maintenance tasks within the established Standard times, and in accordance to the Work Instructions and related procedures.
  12. Exercise safety always; in accordance to established Safety procedures. Responsible for the safety of self and all co-workers, inclusive of contractors.
  13. Perform supporting maintenance activities such as overhead crane operator, forklift driver, etc, as authorized and required by the manager - Applicable to Qualified personnel only.
  14. Perform housekeeping and cleaning tasks at the workplace; to ensure workplace order and hygiene.
  15. Able to work on a shift roster system (as required) in accordance with the MOM guidelines and the Collective Agreement.
  16. Undertake any other tasks or functions that are incidental or ancillary to the performance of the works assigned: e.g. attend to emergency mainline incident, as assigned by supervisor.

To carry out the Preventive and Corrective Maintenance Works safely, the Assistant Engineer must physically:

  1. Not be sensitive or allergic to Component Service Centre Materials, POLs (Petrol, Oils and Lubricants) and dust involved in the conduct of the work. Note that standard PPE of safety shoes, gloves, masks and hearing protection will be provided.
  2. Able to work at height (WAH) on the train roof, while donning the necessary WAH safety equipment.
  3. Fit and able to climb staircases and ladders, stand for sufficient duration (4 hours) to accomplish the required maintenance works.
  4. Lift and handle heavy machineries, tools, equipment or spares of up to 10kg for men and 7kg for women.
  5. Able to work underframe of EMU for sufficient duration (4 hours) which may require frequent squatting and bending
  6. Able to work in a shift roster system (if required) without affecting his concentration at work.
  7. Able to work under the sun (as required) on any related operations.
Qualifications & Work Experience
  1. Polytechnic diploma in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Technology / Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  2. Preferably 1 to 3 years relevant experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical equipment.
  3. Possession of welder/machinist qualification will be added value.
