Job summary

Defence Science and Technology Agency in Singapore is seeking a seasoned finance professional to lead finance operations, treasury, and ERP system improvements. You will manage GL structures, budgets, and approvals, and partner with IT to implement an ERP upgrade, ensuring data integrity and timely reporting.

You bring a degree in Accountancy and 8+ years in financial and management accounting, with SAP S4HANA or similar ERP exposure, strong data analytics, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accountancy or equivalent professional qualifications.
• Minimum of 8 years of accounting experience, preferably with experience in financial and management accounting.
• Strong knowledge of ERP financial systems; prior experience with SAP S4 HANA or similar platforms will be an advantage.
• Proficient in data analysis, reporting, and visualisation.
• Strong analytical skills with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and solutions-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day Finance operations by managing GL structures, chart of accounts, fund management and budget setup, and configuring approval workflows.
• Perform core Treasury functions including daily cash flow projections, liquidity management, and currency exposure control.
• Act as liaison between Finance and IT/Technical teams, translating business needs into functional requirements and participating in UAT.
• Lead finance transformation initiatives to streamline operations and automate tasks.
• Support ERP system migration; map As-Is/To-Be processes and coordinate with vendors and IT for configuration and change management.
• Provide financial insights and dashboards to enable management decisions.
• Undertake other finance-related duties as assigned.

Job description

What the role is:

We are seeking a results-driven and detail-oriented finance professional to join our Financial & Management Accounting Team.In this role, you will oversee the effective operations of the financial systems to enable accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. You will also play a key role in driving continuous improvements in finance systems, processes and controls to enhance operational efficiency, data integrity and effectiveness.

What you will be working on:

• Support the effective delivery of day-to-day Finance operations by managing General Ledger (GL) structures, chart of accounts, fund management and budget setup, as well as configuring and maintaining approval workflows and user access rights. Troubleshoot and resolve operational and system-related issues promptly to ensure uninterrupted financial processing and reporting.
• Perform core Treasury functions, including preparing daily cash flow projections to manage liquidity, forecasting interest income, and executing foreign currency purchases while managing currency exposure.
• Act as a key liaison between Finance business units and IT/Technical teams, by analysing changes in business processes, Finance operations, and organisational structures, and translating business needs into precise clear functional and technical requirements. Participate in User Acceptance Testing, validate that proposed solutions meet operational and compliance requirements, and ensure that the final system design supports the evolving needs of the organisation.
• Drive and support Finance initiatives, transformation projects, and process improvements by identifying opportunities to streamline operations, automate manual tasks, and enhance Finance systems, processes, and internal controls. Lead process re-engineering efforts to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting timeliness, while ensuring that all improvements are sustainable and aligned with the organisation’s long-term strategic goals.
• Play a key role in the Finance team's implementation of the new ERP system by collaborating with relevant stakeholders to align system capabilities with organisational need. Participate in workshops to map out "As-Is" and "To-Be" processes, work closely with vendors and internal IT teams to configure the ERP system in accordance with organisational requirements, and support change management activities to facilitate smooth adoption and minimal disruption to daily business operations during the transition.
• Provide financial and business insights to support management decision-making by analysing financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimisation. Develop dashboards and reports that provide clear visibility into financial performance to enable leadership to make informed strategic decisions.
• Undertake other finance-related duties as assigned.
