Job summary

Gardens by the Bay is seeking a Senior Manager / Assistant Director (Biodiversity) to lead biodiversity and sustainability initiatives within the Sustainability Office. You will plan surveys, analyse data, report progress, and collaborate with partners to advance the Singapore Green Plan 2030 goals.

You will develop carbon reduction pathways, monitor targets, and help showcase GB's sustainability efforts to visitors and partners.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Science, Management, Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in sustainability or environment-related fields.
• Experience in carbon accounting, analysis, interpretation and reporting of data.
• Experience in monitoring sustainability initiatives across the organisation and conducting regular stakeholder engagements to drive successful outcomes.
• Good understanding of climate change, carbon emission and biodiversity conservation.
• Good problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills with a balanced sense of perspective.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to work with people from different disciplines.
• Good report writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee biodiversity conservation and promotion portfolio with GB's partners and departments.
• Plan and lead efforts to advance biodiversity initiatives (e.g. fauna surveys).
• Analyse biodiversity data and present regular reports to GB Management.
• Develop and monitor carbon reduction pathways toward Net Zero.

Job description

An integral part of Singapore's "City in a Garden" vision, Gardens by the Bay spans a total of 101 hectares of prime land at the heart of Singapore's new downtown - Marina Bay. Comprising three waterfront gardens - Bay South, Bay East and Bay Central - Gardens by the Bay will be a showcase of horticulture and garden artistry that will bring the world of plants to Singapore and present Singapore to the World. The Sustainability Office in Gardens by the Bay (GB) is tasked to fulfil GB's mission of becoming a model for sustainable development and conservation.

As a key member of the Sustainability Office which drives Environmental, Social and Economic Sustainability in GB, you will be involved in the planning and implementation of projects to achieve the objectives and goals of the Singapore Green Plan 2030, and GB's Sustainability initiatives.

You will oversee GB's biodiversity conservation and promotion portfolio, and plan and lead efforts to further GB's biodiversity efforts (e.g. fauna surveys) with our partners, research entities, nature groups and GB's horticultural departments. You will be responsible to analyse biodiversity survey data, put up regular reports to GB Management, and work with GB's horticultural departments on boosting biodiversity in GB.

Your role will also involve developing and monitoring agreed carbon reduction pathways and targets towards Net Zero, and reporting on GB's progress in supporting the national sustainability agenda as mapped out in the Singapore Green Plan 2030. The Sustainability Office oversees GB's sustainability initiatives in areas such as water conservation, waste management, and energy efficiency. Your role will involve formulating plans in these areas together with other GB departments, and showcasing such GB's sustainability efforts to our local and overseas visitors at various platforms.
