A lighting design boutique studio is seeking a senior designer to lead projects from concept through completion, collaborating with architects, interior designers and clients to deliver innovative lighting solutions.

The role emphasizes developing concepts, preparing layouts and specs, coordinating with project stakeholders, and guiding junior designers while keeping up with new technologies and sustainability practices.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Lighting Design or related field.
• 6–8 years of relevant lighting design experience; project management preferred
• Strong portfolio in hospitality or architectural lighting
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Revit/SketchUp advantageous
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Our client is an award winning lighting design boutique studio. The successful candidate will lead lighting design projects from concept development through to completion, working closely with architects, interior designers, consultants, clients and contractors to deliver innovative, functional and aesthetically compelling lighting solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage lighting design projects across hospitality, luxury resorts and architectural developments.
• Develop creative lighting concepts aligned with architectural vision, project brief and client requirements.
• Prepare lighting layouts, fixture specifications, lighting calculations, schedules and technical documentation.
• Coordinate lighting designs with architects, interior designers, M&E consultants and other project stakeholders.
• Conduct site visits, lighting mock-ups, focusing, testing and commissioning where required.
• Research and recommend suitable lighting fixtures, controls and technologies based on performance, aesthetics and budget.
• Manage project timelines, deliverables and design coordination from concept through construction stages.
• Review drawings, shop drawings and technical submissions to ensure design intent and quality are maintained.
• Attend client and project meetings and present design concepts and technical proposals.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior designers.
• Keep updated on emerging lighting technologies, sustainability practices, controls and industry trends.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• 6 to 8 years of relevant lighting design experience; project management skill preferred
• Strong portfolio demonstrating commercial, hospitality or architectural lighting projects
• Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop or other design software is advantageous
• Strong project management, communication and presentation skills
• Able to work independently, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Creative, detail-oriented and commercially aware with strong design and technical capabilities
