Job summary

Lightspeed Studios in Singapore is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel (Data Privacy) to support Tencent's global businesses. The role includes providing legal advice on compliance with global privacy laws, managing outside counsel, and developing a global privacy compliance program.

The ideal candidate is a common law qualified lawyer with at least 4 years PQE and must be fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin) to effectively interact with stakeholders in China HQ.

About the Job

Senior Legal Counsel (Data Privacy)

Provide privacy legal advice and day-to-day support required by Tencent’s global businesses.

Advise on compliance across all aspects of global privacy laws and regulations.

Develop and implement a program to facilitate compliance with international data privacy and personal information collection rules, regulations and standards, including the GDPR, CCPA and PDPO/PDPA.

Manage outside counsel for all privacy law projects.

Draft, review, negotiate and administer legal and commercial documentations.

Analyse global privacy legal requirements and keep stakeholders abreast of all new privacy laws and regulations that may impact Tencent.

Qualifications

• Common law qualified lawyer with at least 4 years PQE, including experience at a law firm and/or in-house.
• Able to work independently but also work well in a team environment.
• CIPP/E, CIPP/US and CIPM certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience in dealing with privacy issues relating to international businesses.
• Experience in the design and implementation of a global privacy compliance program is a plus.
• Strong interest in the internet and cloud service space.
• Track record in problem solving, analytical and organizational skills.
• Proactive approach and able to handle matters independently.
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese (Mandarin) to interact with stakeholders in China HQ and other regions.
