Job summary

Apple Inc. seeks a Privacy Counsel to advise across Apple’s global operations on privacy matters, influencing internal operations and product developments while collaborating with legal, engineering and business teams. The role emphasizes advising on cross-border data processing, policy development, and staying ahead of regulatory changes to support innovative products and services.

Qualifications

• LLB or equivalent law degree from a recognized university.
• Qualified lawyer with at least 4 years of experience in privacy law (in a major law firm or in-house).
• Knowledge of PIPL and other major privacy laws and regulatory guidance.
• Experience advising on regulatory compliance and inquiries.
• Excellent written and verbal English; fluent Mandarin.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to legal and business teams on internal and cross-border data processing.
• Draft policies and procedures to ensure privacy compliance for technology and business processes.
• Advise on applicable privacy requirements for products and services.
• Support compliance and auditing frameworks including PIPL, GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy laws.
• Partner with business teams to conduct privacy reviews, including impact assessments.
• Stay informed of changes in privacy laws and communicate implications to stakeholders.

Description

As Privacy Counsel you will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and experienced team on privacy issues impacting Apple’s business and products globally. You will help ensure that Apple continues to lead the industry on privacy and ensures we respond to the changing legal landscape under the PIPL, GDPR, CCPA, etc.You will be responsible for advising and providing support on privacy related aspects for Apple’s internal operations and various products and services, working alongside legal, engineering and business teams. This role will report through the Privacy Compliance Legal team and will offer the opportunity to work directly with key members of the business, engineering and legal teams on a variety of cutting edge projects.

Responsibilities

• Providing guidance to legal and business teams on matters relating to internal and cross-border processing
• Drafting policies and procedures to ensure that technology and business processes meet existing and new privacy legal requirements
• Advising business and regulatory partners on applicable privacy requirements
• Supporting compliance and auditing frameworks including in relation to the PIPL, the GDPR, the CCPA, and other privacy laws
• Partnering with business teams to conduct privacy reviews, including privacy impact assessments
• Staying informed of and properly communicating any changes to or developments in privacy laws, regulations, standards, and guidance

Minimum Qualifications

• LLB or equivalent law degree from a recognized university
• Qualified lawyer with at least 4 years of experience (either at a major law firm and/or in-house) in privacy law
• Knowledge of the PIPL and other comprehensive privacy laws, and regulatory and other guidance and standards
• Experience advising on regulatory compliance and inquiries
• Extraordinary written and verbal skills in English, and written and verbal fluency in Mandarin

• Ability to lead, take action, and provide direction in the face of ambiguity
• Experience quickly issue-spotting, analyzing, and clearly communicating privacy advice on complex legal issues

• Strong analytical capability with attention to detail
• Ability to partner at all levels of the organization
