Job summary

sggovterp invites applications for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Academic Development) in the School of Engineering. You will design, develop and deliver applied Statistics, Electronics, Design Thinking, Business Innovation, and/or entrepreneurship curricula to students.

You will collaborate with staff to foster an innovative, enterprising culture, lead committees when required, and spearhead new opportunities with industry partners.

Qualifications

• Recognised tertiary qualification in Engineering or Statistics.
• At least 2 years of relevant work/industrial experience in a related field.
• Experience in curriculum design for applied Statistics, Electronics, Design Thinking, Business Innovation, and/or entrepreneurship.
• Pedagogy and effective teaching/assessment practices, including design thinking and project-based learning.
• Good IT skills and competency in working with online learning platforms and educational technology.
• Use of Excel for data analysis, reporting and instructional support.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to meet deadlines and multitask.
• Candidates conversant in blended learning and tech-enabled teaching tools have an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver applied Statistics, Electronics, Design Thinking, Business Innovation, and/or entrepreneurship curricula to students.
• Work collaboratively to foster a culture of innovation and enterprise and develop entrepreneurship programmes.
• Lead or represent the school in committees and engage with industry partnerships as required.
• Identify and spearhead new opportunities and collaborations within the polytechnic and with industry partners.
• Plan, lead, manage and undertake projects or co-developed training courses with internal and external stakeholders.
• Plan, develop and deliver CET programmes for adult learners and industry partners.
• Conduct and contribute to research in teaching and learning.
• Perform academic, administrative and other related duties as assigned.
• Mentor and guide students in academic and personal development.
