Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and innovative Laboratory Officer (or Senior Laboratory Officer) to join our metal additive manufacturing team. Beyond standard machine operation, we are looking for an individual with an eye for detail and the drive to initiate improvements that streamline our laboratory operations and benefit the entire team.
- Machine operation, setup, and post-processing: Operate and maintain Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) machines, including setup, monitoring, data recording, and basic post-processing to ensure safe and consistent build quality.
- Powder handling and material management: Handle and maintain metal powders with full traceability, including sieving, quality checks, and safe storage in compliance with HSE procedures.
- Process and material characterization: Conduct material testing and characterization, such as density, mechanical, and microscopic analysis, to ensure part integrity and proper documentation.
- Routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment: Manage LPBF machine maintenance and vendor coordination, including routine servicing, preventive scheduling, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify bottlenecks and propose creative solutions to optimize lab layouts, safety procedures, or workflows.
- Team Impact: Share technical insights and process enhancements to elevate the collective expertise and efficiency of the department staff.
Job Requirement
- Education & Experience: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, Engineering Science, or a related field.
- (Optional) For Senior Level Experience: Minimum of 3 years in operating metal AM equipment or high-precision production tools (e.g., CNC, semiconductor tools, or automated lines).
- Technical Mindset: A high degree of technical precision combined with a creative approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Proactive Ambition: Self-motivated to identify and initiate improvements that enhance the working environment and efficiency for all staff.
