A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research is seeking a Laboratory Officer to support the adaptive robotics and mechatronics group. You will work with a diverse team of scientists, engineers and technicians to conduct experiments, analyze data, and ensure smooth, safe lab operations to back R&D activities.

No prior professional experience required; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. Basic knowledge in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or similar, and familiarity with drawing

The laboratory Officer plays an important role in supporting the adaptive robotics and mechatronics group. You will work with a diverse team of scientists, engineers and technicians to conduct experiments, analyze data as well as ensure the smooth and safe operations of the laboratories to support the research and development activities of the group. This role requires a keen attention to details, strong organizational skills, and a passion for engineering.

This role requires a keen attention to details, strong organizational skills, and a passion for engineering.

Job Description
  • Setting up of experiments/trials to aid in the execution of project including data collection, processing and analysis where needed.
  • Learn and master the operations of humanoids and robotics arms and eventually to setup and run experimentations for data collection.
  • Carry out experimental procedures while ensuring adherence to safety standards.
  • Upkeep of the lab, maintenance of the equipment and management of the assets and inventory in the lab
JOB REQUIREMENT
  • Basic knowledge in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or similar field
  • No prior professional experience required; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Competent with interpreting engineering drawings with the use of software tools e.g. altium, solidworks
  • Good grasps with the basics of robotics and automation
  • Understanding of Risk Assessment and Safe Work Procedure (RA/SWP) documentation
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar will be beneficial
  • Enthusiasm for learning and adapting to new technologies and areas, with a proactive approach to skill development.
  • Willingness to work alongside scientists, engineers and technicians, contributing positively to team dynamics and learning from experienced professionals.
