Job summary

Singapore Customs is seeking a Senior/Investigation Officer to join the Intelligence & Investigation Division. You will be part of a team investigating serious offences under Singapore Customs’ purview, applying evidence-based approaches to enforcement outcomes.

You will gather and analyse evidence, plan enforcement operations including raids, and work with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen investigation capabilities while maintaining integrity and accountability.

Qualifications

• Experience in enforcement is preferred; fresh graduates welcome.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities to identify leads and evaluate evidence.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive team player demonstrating integrity, professionalism and accountability.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle irregular/extended hours.

Job description

What the role is:

Singapore Customs protects revenue and supports a secure, fair and trusted trading hub. As a Senior/ Investigation Officer in the Intelligence & Investigation Division, you will be part of a team to investigate serious offences under Singapore Customs’ purview.

What you will be working on:

• Conduct fair, objective and effective investigations into serious offences under legislation administered by Singapore Customs, including the Customs Act, Regulation of Imports and Exports Act, Strategic Goods (Control) Act and United Nations Regulations.
• Gather, analyse and evaluate evidence to establish facts and support appropriate enforcement outcomes, including prosecution.
• Plan and conduct enforcement operations, including raids and searches, to apprehend suspects and secure evidence.
• Identify emerging fraud trends and criminal methods and recommend measures to address regulatory gaps.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to implement enforcement initiatives and operational improvements.
• Review investigation procedures and support initiatives that strengthen investigation capabilities.

What we are looking for:

• Relevant working experience in an enforcement field is preferred. Fresh graduates with a passion for fact-finding, evidence gathering and take pride in upholding legislative and regulatory laws are welcome.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to identify leads and evaluate evidence from multiple sources.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A proactive team player who demonstrates integrity, professionalism and accountability.
• Able to work under pressure, multi-task and be prepared to work irregular and extended hours at Customs Operations Command.
